The last in my twin engine "Why Not" series......

Well, heck, why not just go for it all:
Why not a Heinkel 111, say the He 111H-3 of 2 Staffel, Kampfgeschwader (KG) 100 which was used in the Battle of Britain OR perhaps a He 111H-6 with torpedoes???!!!
I'm sure that you were wondering WHEN I would get around to a Luftwaffe airplane, right?

This is my Luftwaffe entry
Thanks for chewing on this additional food-for-thought,

How awesome would an HE-111 be. That is an excellent choice.

Yeah, I could go for an He-111. Its an interesting subject having flown in many key battles, and the size is just about right as well.
How about releasing it back back with a Mosquito?

Yes, I think both of those planes would be excellent choices

go for something smaller first.
Arado 234B or Me 410B...then go for some larger birds.

Not in our future in 1/18.
But 1/32 scale? Can be done and don't forget the ton of other twin engine beauties, even "ground guys" like me would buy..

bah....i could totally see Admiral doing a Heinkel 111 some day. One of the mainstay bombers of the war and very recognizable by the average joe....plus neat looking too.
A mosquito i'm certain we'll see in the next couple of years. Too sexy and too many requests for it to be ignored. About the same size as the Avenger, so that's not a problem.

JMHO on the subject... and from someone who desperately wants a JU88A4 in 1/18th...
These companies are in it to sell these planes as toys first, and collectibles second by happy serendipity.
The issue with some of our beloved big birds is playability; Lil' Johnny can't finger pilot figs in and out of an HE111 or JU88 or B25 cockpit as easily as he could with an SBD, F86, Fw190, etc. Heck, we even seen them slot the fuselage of the P47 Razorback to make it work better for Lil' Johnny.
And heaven knows Johnny would break the wings of a DR1 or Sopwith as well.
These kinds of play-ability and breakability issues would be killers to a retailer like WM who would have to take back returns.
So sadly, we may never see the kinds of planes that we as adult (well, sorta) collectors want. Like a JU88A4. But we can hope.

But wait, NFAFAN, my request for a PV-1, S2, He-111 (and list growing with all the great suggestions/arguments

), would be for a "kid"....Lil' dV....I want my twins, NOW, waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
Heck, look at this (almost) quote from Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, where the little spoiled girl is demanding that "Daddy, I want a Golden Goose, now!!" MY interpretation is that is a Grumman Goose

-right!??

I would be all for a float plane that actually floated. I think it would be too cool!

I a little OT but I see flayrah bring up famous lil Johnny - the mystery kid we often reference as a target audience for this stuff on the shelf at retail stores....well, here's the anecdotal evidence he exists:
When: Today
Where: TRU, Times Square (amusement park)
Me: Pick up and scan (did not have to move - scanner right next to the bbi) a checkernose Corsair (man that pilot is sweet!!) -
$48.99! I almost choke but remember where I am and that these are usually $45 now, so with the NYC premium it is about 'right'
After I put it down two kids scramble over with mom in toe, and there is no way they are over 5. One kid says he wants "the Submarine" and grabs the Corsair. I realize it says "MARINE" on the side and we all know it is blue. Mom agrees it is a submarine but says "we're not buying a toy that big now" then "let's see how much it is" I wait for her heart attack but next thing I know the kid's changed his mind to "Old Crow" (I guess silver & green is cool) and mom's got it under her arm and away they go towards the register. Now I really appreciate how these things look in the box, what colors they are, what they say on the side or nose..etc...and I also realize that there are parents out there who will drop $50 on a dime!

Yeah, like me. If I get away spending less than $50 its a miracle.
Ah well, it makes them happy. I wouldn't have it any other way.

Luftwaffe?

If it's twins in Luftwaffe livery, how about these?
Arado 234 Blitz....small and easy to make.
JU-88/188/288....about the same as the He-111.
That's just the "popular" ones. The Luft' had ALOT of twins to choose from during the '36-'45 timeframe, some well know while alot of others were obscure. Anybody for a Do-335 Pfiel?

There is a small hobbyshop in my town that sells mostly trains and model railroad accessories, but which also has a few BBI pieces - namely the Corsair, Zero, and Apache. These are way over priced (I think he was selling the planes for $75) but I observed a similar scene as yours when a couple bought their 13-year-old one of the Corsairs. They obviously had no idea they could get one at TRU for nearly $30 cheaper and even less of an idea of all the planes to be had at Wal Mart, but the kid was quite excited and impressed with the model! (Incidently, I bought a 21c German F-104 from this same shop for only $52 - and that was before they were at WM and were rare!)
Jump on the Twin Bandwagon

Ok I just have to jump on the twin bandwagon here and tell you all what I would really like to see in 1:18.
A c-47/dc3 now that would be sweet. Again you have the problem with how to place the pilots in the cockpit, but I think you face the same problem with just about any twin.
Just wishful thinking.
