Do the flaps on a 21stC FW190 extend?

Yes they do, at least on mine :?

The flaps are under the wings, not the whole wing

Now my question... do the control surfaces move?

Thanks Moth,
I thought the flaps would extend I just haven't been able to get them to come down, and I didn't want to break anything.

The control surfaces on mine do move but not a whole bunch.

yeah i dsicoverd that the flaps on my FW190 are moving .... a little bit and the underside is detailled so i guess it s designed that way. On pictures of the real thing the flaps are no comparaison with ... let s say the CORSAIR ! so i guess it s pretty accurate .... but really hard to move (discoverd that after 6 monthes ...) for the control surface it s not moveable ... in fact i am afraid to break something but you can go for the flaps its looks awesome 8)

What control surfaces move?

I was thinking about getting one, but I have heard that the control surfaces dont move and that bugs me, at least not like the me-109 or the P-51 do.

All the surfaces on the 21c 1:18 FW-190D9 do indeed move. They do not have the flexibility of those on the retooled P-51, ME-109G or F-104, but they do move. The flaps are rather stiff and don't extend very far (about 1cm at most) but they are designed to move and have some interior detail. Another "hidden" feature of the XD FW-190 is that the tail wheel can extend and retract. I had my plane for a year with the tailwheel retracted before someone around here mentioned it could extend

LOL now I'm going to have to see if the tail wheel extends. :o

FW 190D flaps and Controls

The flaps are held into the trailing edge by a molded in T on for forward edge of the flap. I tried to extend mine farther than I should have on the first (of many) Doras I bought and promptly broke it clean off. Since it was already "pranged" I took the entire wing apart to see if I could improve it some. The ailerons are also held in by plastic molded in T's and there is very little room for them to actually move. The flaps can be fixed easily without taking the wings apart...I've done it on three so far. The ailerons are a different story...you will have to seperate upper and lower halves before you can fix them. That requires removing the covers from all the screw holes on the lower wing surface, then carefully seperating the wing halves along the edges where they are glued together. Alot of work....consider carefully!
