How about a 21C 1/18 "Duster"

One of my favorite vehicles of all time has been the "Duster". Either the M-19 of WW2 fame or the M-42 of the poist war and VN era. Both were made to use the twin 40mm Borfors guns.
The M-19 was made on a M-24 Chafee tank chasis. The gun tub was to the rear of the vehicle and the engine in the middle.
The M-42 was made on a M-41 Walker Bulldog tank chasis. The gun tub was moved to the center to make the guns more stable.
The M-42: (pic courtesy of board member Rylau.)
Please note that if either vehicle was made, either the M-24 Chaffe could be made in 1/18 along with the M-19, using the same chasis. If the M-42 was made. the already produced M-41 could be dusted off and used for the M-42 chasis. Maybe even a new paint job on the M-41, a really great 1/18 model.
How about it 21C, or some other "up and comming" 1/18 manufacturer?

Should be easy for 21st Century Toys, since they already have the M41.
I like the tank overall, looks very scary with those twin cannons, and the 3 blade flash hinder. There is one standing in Eisenhower park in Long Island.

I really liked the M41s, so a Duster would be a nice display companion. Also gives a quick way of getting some new post WWII armor out.

Interesting AA tank. What did they use them for in Vietnam? Did the NVA had any aircraft to speak of? I went searching on the web for a picture of the M19, which I think looks cooler than the M42. Might be the gun placement that is towards the back look. Maybe I'll get it a go once everything in going good.

I like the idea for either models 3-T. If 21st., ever gets around to it,.. we'll most likely see an M-41 variant (M-42) first,.. more so than an M-19 (M-24) variant.

...

..... Yeah I know ,... but HEY ! ..

..."WE CAN STILL DREAM" !!! ... If we want to.

Yes, we need something to shoot all these darn 1:18 planes down. They are straffing and bombing my armor columns relentlessly and a BAR just doesn't cut it.

Momaw:
In VN, the Duster was used like the quad .50 in WW2, as a "meat chopper".
It chops up alot of real estate.
I've mentioned it before, but one day in VN, we had a visitor, somebody like a Cardinal somebody or other or Billy Graham...smebody like that. I honestly don't remember who it was, but when you are in VN, working 12 hours a day, 7 days a week you take any break you can get so we filled the hillside where a stage had been set up for USO shows, and we listened and caught a few Zs, anyway, I was interested in the two M-42's. They had one at each end of the stage. I didn't think much of it, just figured the M-42's were protection from the VC AND then I realized the 40mm barrels were not pointed at the jungle, they were pointed at us..

Veddy scarweee.......the way they thought of us. I will say we were all armed to the teeth, so the possibility of a crazie being among us was worth thinking about.....
I bring up the M-19 because I'd like to see a M-24 as a companion piece.
Sure, I'd like to see an M-42 in 1/18 to go along with our M-48's and M-113's and Mutts and throw in a few 5 ton or 2 1/2 ton gun trucks (with companion straight cargo trucks) - HINT, HINT

and we have some serious VN toys for playing.

---------> On a side note : They (21st.) could just as easily do a "Wirbelwind" on Panzer MkIV chassis. While we're on the subject of AA and other protection.

..... Would really like to see this variant too.

..... Seems almost predictable ,... for us WWII dudes as well.

I'd love an M42. A while back I had considered converting one of my M41s into an M42, but I knew I did not have the skills so I left it alone (a man has to know his limitations!).
More VN items will always be welcomed by me.
