Planes we would like to see in 1/18 but probably won't.

I think there are many good candidates for a good selling XD but I feel the manufacturers would overlook them because they feel that that would be good sellers. For the moment I'm excluding jets. Of those listed which would be a possible great success? Personally I've always liked the Skyraider its not limited to one war and it lends itself to many schemes and countries.

A-1

I think we will see an A-1 soon from AT. Didn't Jason hint towards that plane in the DFTS thread a couple of weeks ago?

I don't think specifically towards the Skyraider. I thought it was more toward a P-39, but I'm not sure.

Did the P-39 see two wars? This was his quote which I think narrowed it down quite well:
there is one aircraft that was used in several wars, that civilians often fly, that I think would be a great addition to the 1:18th market. I will leave it up to you to guess which one I am talking about.

Its deffinitely the KI-84 - lots of civilians fly those :P

The Skyraider may be a good candidate as there are several that are owned by civilian pilots and frequent airshows. Then again, with a deffinition that broad, there could be alot more choices

the one civilians fly now is the YAK

I want all of them
For some reason, the more obscure planes seem the most beautiful to me.

skyraiders flew all throughout korea, vietnam and there are lots of civilian ones. Would be sweet and the most likely 'best seller' of the given list. Sort of the forebearer of the A-10.

I missed Jason's 'hint'...seems a very likely candidate though and i think it would sell a ton. Everyone seems to like the Skyraider.

I hope Jason meant it is a whole new plane, because that sounds a lot like a Corsair. A lot of civilians fly them, and it has been used WWII and Korea.

I have to agree with Tman, that description can cover a large number of aircraft. A Skyraider would be cool. If I could get a A-1 and an A-10 into my 1/18 collection.... ..... 8) .

I'm sure whatever aircraft it is, it will be cool to see in 1/18 scale... :D

Go Ugly Early in 1/18 scale!

Still waiting and wishing for a 1/18 A-10 Warthog.

no way it's a Corsair. Another contender would be a P-51 but i highly doubt it's that either.

Really there arent't that many planes that qualify. A C-47 certainly does though as does a B-29. I think any of the planes that qualify are all pretty interesting subjects, assuming they are not going to make duplicates of planes already issued, which i believe Jason affirmed they are not going to do.

Honestly i think the Skyraider is the top contender. Very cool.

I would love a Skyraider model. What a big, poweful plane that is. Awesome to watch in flight, and it sounds so cool in the air. :D

Jason specially wrote it was not going to be something that’s has been produced in the 1:18 scale, so I would put money on a military jet.

He did say it was one of the ones I am interested in, so its hard to say since there are quit a few out there that have caught my eye.
As for the poll I voted for the A-1

I'm thinking that Jason's hint is for the T-6 texan......makes sense, since a ton of civilians fly them and they were used in WWII and Korea (although not in combat). What a model that would be.

F-4 then maybe? Are there civilian ones?

I want a Skyraider now. I"m skipping dinner until i get one. :x

Another great choice, the AT-6 Texan. I would like a Navy SNJ version. So many nice paint schemes you could use on a T-6/SNJ. Man I am getting excited about what is around the corner in 1:18th scale.

I was honestly thinking it would be the AT6 or the Piper Cub. The Texan was the advanced trainer in WWII and some were fitted in a ground attack role for Korea. And, you see them all over the place at airshows and just at the local puddle jumper airports. I also thought the Cub because it was used as a liason aircraft from WWII through Vietnam. And, there are a bunch still in general aviation use today. (as a matter of fact I have been trying to convince my wife I need a real one) Just my thoughts.

I know Jason said that Admiral Toys will not do copys, but so far that is all they have done. If I am correct, 21st Century Toys have been producing the F-86 and ME-262 before AT.

I hope it is not another Corsair!
About the Skyradier, I dont really like it... I find it ugly, I have no clue why it's so popular, it looks like it is made of parts from different aircraft.

Jason said that he F-86 was in the works before the 21st one was, At was also going to release a Mitsubishi Zero but put that project on hold.

Ok, sorry about that, I was wrong.

21st started the ME 262 but Jason said since 21st put the project on hold for a few years they deiced to make one. I think its time 21st “get off the pot or ….you know”
