What could 21C do for the Navy

Since the newest member is in the Navy I ask a qustion of other board members?
What navy equipment could be produced in 1/18 scale?
I would love to see a VN SeaBee series put out.

It probably be too big to market but what about a WWII PT boat or VN PBR?

How about floating stuff in general? I'm ok with that as long it does something interesting (other than beach itself) when it encounters dirt:

Amtrac - Keeps going
LST, LCT, LCVP - Door opens, stuff comes out
LCAC - Keeps floating
DUK - Keeps going

Or does something other than sink when it hits water:
LAV - Rolls and floats
BMP - Clanks and floats
Schwimwagen - Rolls and floats with style

21c has had a prototype PBR for years. I'm hoping it comes out when (if) the Platoon line is launched.

And certainly a Higgins boat landing craft would be very reasonable in size for them to make. Heck, they'd make a fortune just from the potential figure sales from everyone wanting to fill it with troops.

Aside from vehicles, how about some generic crewman? Even if you didn't model the whole ship, it would be nice to have guys for a dioramma.

Hows about a PT boat?? Heck, an Elco 80' is only twice as long as an Avenger

If they could tie the Higgins boat into a movie like "Saving Private Ryan" or something as big as that. But they hitched up with that Black Spitfire - Capt. somebody and "Sahara" (which was an excellent Cussler book - but not that great on film). Both ventures were not that sucessful.

We already missed the 60th Anniversary of D-Day (would have been a great opportunity!)

What would really sell would be a board/RPG/Wargame that used the 1/18 figures - 1/32 planes, vehicles and tanks...

Hell! I'd be happy with any of the following:
1) F-14 A/B/D
2) A-6E (Navy or Marine Corps)
3) EA-6B (Navy or Marine Corps)
4) F-4 Phantom
5) A-4 Skyhawk (would love to see someone do a scooter!)

So get to work 21st and Bbi :-)

G'day

Looking at it from a purely modern perspective:

Realistically: an accurate Spec Op RIB with some Brown Water Navy figures driving it.

Also realistically: The current AAVP7A1 AMTRAC

But for pure wish come true type material: I'd love an LCAC, now that would be cool.

Why no just build a 1:18 scale battleship or aircraft carrier for those of us (not me) with 6 figure incomes :P

Afterall, Nieman Marcus once contracted with a builder to make a few life-sized X-Wings, which sold for about $35 grand apiece, so there probably would be a buyer or two

Hey tmanthegreat

I must have a 6 figure income, because 6 figures is about all I can afford to buy each year  .

I already get in trouble from the wife for having my 1/18 scale F/A-18 and a 1/6th scale AH-6 in the house, so I think she might just go a tad mentle if I tried to smuggle something even the size of a patrol boat into the house let alone a carrier!

Navy - you mean they realize there's more to the Navy than Corsairs and Avengers??? 8)

From a marketing standpoint nothing will outsell a Phantom II, especially if you include Marine birds.

If it's non-aviation WWII stuff then PT boats (go Elco!) are a must with Higgins boats a close second to let the ground-pounders risk capsizing them in the pool.

In order of preference for Naval/Marine aviation:

1:18 Wildcat in Marine Guadalcanal markings (Joe Foss)
1:18 Hellcat in McCampbell or Vraciu's markings.

But still, all of that can wait until we get a B-25!!!!

Seabees

I think some VN Seabee equipment and figure series would be cool... Especially a Dozer:) Could do a small diorama with like a half buil SEA Hut.

For modern stuff...a Dozer, and an MTVR (our new truck...makes a HMMWV look like a wimpy Toyota Prius)

Seabees would be pretty easy to do... could be accomplished fairly easily. We use pretty standard equipment.... A 1/18th scale SeabeeTractor Trailer with a Dozer (or a Cat320L Excavator) on the bed gives me heavy duty chubbie.
