I see a bunch of Pattons on ebay and I just read a thread about a poster picking one up at wal-mart. Is this tank available at wal-mart now? I was about to shell about a hundred bucks for one, but not if I can find it at retail, thanks.

That's putting it mildly. Of some 15 WM stores in my AO (Baltimore / Washington DC metro area) precisely two had the new release M48 Pattons. Of those, there is one Patton left at one store, so they have not exactly been re-stocking them like hotcakes.

I bought one yesterday just to get my XD "fix" but I'll have to admit
that the paint job is pretty lame, very toyish compared to the original
release, but being a heavy die-cast almost makes up for it.

Hmmm.... I dunno, I did not ever own a 1st series Patton, did they have more weathering or something?? The new release is "clean" as far as the paint scheme goes, like it just rolled off the factory floor, but I don't know that I would call that "lame", as a matter of fact I wouldn't call it lame by any stretch, it looks fine to me. To each his own I suppose.

You'd need to own the original to see the difference. New one is OK
if you dont mind the toyish look.
