F-86 Debate

Post by Gusthebus » Sat Aug 19, 2006 3:58 pm

Should I get Admiral's F-86 Patricia II or should I wait for all the 21st versions coming out. Is Admiral's a quality product?

Well looks like you have a win win siutation here. I have an Admiral F-86, and I like it. The 21st Century version is not out yet, but from what I have seen it looks great. The things that bother me about the Admiral F-86 are few. First off, the seat sits to low, so your pilot looks like he is sitting in a recliner. I think they fixed that problem in later runs of their Sabre. I also wish it had more detail on the landing gear struts. The front strut is very plain, and to me it takes away from the overall look of the plane. From pictures I have seem the 21st Century F-86 will have an open intake on the nose. This should look great. And the weakest part of the Admiral Sabre is the pilot. Poor guy, he really is horrible. The 21st Century Sabre pilot looks awesome. I plan of getting the the Admiral German CL-13 Sabre when it comes out. It has the improved pilot seat, and a really nice looking pilot. And lastly, you can't beat Admiral toys for customer service. My Sabre had a broken main gear door under the wing. I sent Admiral an email, and in a few days I had a whole new wing. Now that is great service. Like I said earlier, you have a win win choice with these two F-86s. :D

They also represent two different versions of the F-86 so you really should get both.

I ordere the F-86 Patricia II and I have the JR f-86, I plan on getting the 21st F-86 along with the Mig 15. So I would get them both.
Colonel "Madman" Maddox: Let me hear your guns!
Captain Wild Bill Kelso: My what?
Colonel "Madman" Maddox: Your guns! Ack, ack, ack, ack, ack!
Captain Wild Bill Kelso: [fires his airplane's guns] AHHHH!

Was the seat aka recliner fixed on the Patricia II and/or the CL?

Yes I think the seat was fixed to a higher position on the F-86s you asked about. I am really looking forward to getting the German CL-13. Have you seen the pictures of it on the Admiral toys site?

To be perfectly honest, I am 100% satisfied with Admiral's F-86. It is completely on par with anything else out right now. The seat isn't that big a deal. Just have the figure sit straight up at the correct angle and you don't even notice it.

With the release of the 21st Century MIG-15, their F-86 should not be far behind. Looks like you will be able to compare the Admiral and 21st Century Sabre models soon. :D

Pics of the new 21C F-86F is now up on Area 21.
It's got more realistic seatbelts. The paint scheme is cool too.
