Panzer IV questions
Whatever happened to this tank? I never purchased it because I ran into the guy from 21st at weekend of heroes 2005 and he said they would be released with sideskirts in September 2005, but it never happened. Now I wish I would have purchased it before it became impossible to find.
Does anyone know if it will be rereleased and what happened to the sideskirt version? Thanks.

This probably is not much help, but the only one available on any consistent basis that I am aware of is the RC version, and of course, sans sideskirts. I think I have seen a few of the non-rc versions on e-bay from time to time, that's usually where some of the harder to find stuff surfaces, and that is probably where you should look if you are trying to find a non radio control version. I believe there have been some discussions about custom fabricating sideskirts in the customs and mods forum, it should not be too difficult for some of the more experienced and adventurous modelers in our ranks. Maybe some of our other members can add some further info to this question??

the r/c versions can be found pretty inexpensively and are probably your best option for now. I'm certain we will see the PIV released again and most likely with sideskirts, in time.
So for now you can either spend a bundle on ebay for one, go for the r/c version or wait..

I bought the Euro version with the sideskirts a while back for $83 think it was. Dont know if there are any more out there on the net being sold by dealers now.

There are two or three (non-RC) that I know of being auctioned on e-bay at the moment, these are presently fetching in the $45-$50 range, less shipping, with some time left before the bidding ends. My guess is these will end up costing someone about $60 or more by the time the bidding ends and you factor in the shipping.

you can get r/c versions on ebay for as little as $25 if you're patient and keep looking....loose ones even less.
The last regular S1 panzer IV i saw on ebay went for over $100 though. If the euro version is cheaper that may be the way to go..or just be patient for a few months as i'm sure we'll see it reissued.

Im sure they will reissue it as well, they have rereleased the halftracks a bunch of times. They have the molds for the Panzer 4 with sideskirts so I bet it will be released with them. I wasnt really into paintjob anyways. That is unless the company doesnt go under in the near future.
About the RC version: Can you open the hatches and stick figures inside? What are the differences between the rc and non-rc versions? Did the non-rc version have a removeable turret like the tiger tank?
Thanks for all the help guys.

I don't know about the hatches on the RC version because I haven't taken them out of their box yet. The two main differences I noticed are:
The RC version doesn't have the correct hubs on the idler and wheels. Instead there is a hole with some black axle fitting showing.
The RC version doesn't have the hull shields and doesnt have the hull brackets to hang them on.
I have two of the RC that I bought because the price was too good . The first one is a first scheme version and had a battered box and one broken off wheel at $8.00. The second one is the third paint scheme in perfect shape that was $20.00.
