POST AVENGER FINDS AND DISCUSSION HERE!

Post by wm69 » Thu Jul 27, 2006 6:08 pm

I know there's already a thread on this but I'd quit reading the Avenger thread weeks ago since there was never anything new on it. Today I was driving to Denton TX and stopped at a Walmart about 30 miles north of Denton to get gas and figured "what the hey". Walked in and they had 4 Avengers sitting on the top shelf. I was all set to buy one and scanned it and it came up at (here's the bad news) $69.97. I guess since no one else has spotted one I'll have to drive back up there and buy one now to get the specifics. Boxes are huge, comes with 2 figures, and the first one I looked at had minor paint inperfections and the 2nd one I looked at had good paint but a "walmarted" box. I put them back after finding out how much they cost, but guess I'll go pick one up just for recon purposes. :D . Time to hit the stores again!

you know you are going to get hounded by everybody for :

1) no pics! ( yet )
2) as much as everybody has sounded off on when will they get here (me included ) to walk OUT of the WM without a least 1???
3) what scheme?

Of course the price will be more, that's a given. I have 4 on pre order, I'd still buy one as this plane I want to take out of the box. Of all my planes only the me 109 S1 is out of the box.

How the Hell does AR get them first?!

I would understand Californa, or Florida, or NJ, they have ports but AR?
Isint it somewhere in the middle of USA? Or I need to look at a map some more?

Maybe someone can bring their digital camera into Walmart and take a picture of the Avengers on the shelves. I would like to see a picture of one any way we can. :D

Not AR, he said Texas - the same place of the phantom sighting months ago.
That huge sticky all for naught...at least they're here! Although $70 is a pretty penny for WM pricing...

Might be because Rogers, AR is the birthplace and headquarters for Wal-Mart not to mention their main distribution warehouses I believe (someone correct me if I'm wrong)......sounds like it was found in the Dallas/Ft.Worth area........ :D

Thanks for the pictures. There you go, and actual 1:18th scale Avenger. I like the Atlantic scheme, looks like I will be hitting all the Walmarts around here tomorrow.

Best news in ages! and TKO did say "any day now." Now the hunt begins, although I think these may be a ways off from California, as 1:18 releases of this magnitude usually are. I'll still keep my preorder with BCA for the time being

Now has anyone who has thus far bought one set it up? How does the wing folding mechansim work and whats our detail level like?

I am looking forward to you guys posting pictures of the Avenger. I really want to see how the wings work, and any close up detail pictures would be great. :D

Mediump, how many Avengers did they have at the Walmart where you got yours? I wonder about what the average will be of these at each Walmart?

Yeah! I just saw that! I am half tempted to go running out to my nearest WM right now, since its only a mile from my house and about 9:30pm PST at the time this message was written  Nonetheless, I think I'll wait for tomorrow, to give them time to stock the item - should they have even arrived in the first place

Folding wing sure come in handy. My BBI Corsair sits on a very narrow shelf with its wings folded. The Avenger will be huge, so I sure hope the wings fold. :D
