Thanks for the scoop BB..

The P-47 is already here, did you mean the P-51?

Great news that the Panzer IV is just weeks away!

Good to know about the Panzer IV and the 109G. Looks like there will still be a wait for the Avenger, however. Still, all other things aside, I have to give 21st credit for at least being out there and having reps to give us hints about their product development and take future suggestions! I couldn't imagine doing it with a giant like Hasbro.

I think its also cool they got the licencing for the "Sky Captain" P-40. Seeing that movie, even if the aircraft was groosly inaccurate, really made me want to fly my XD P-40 around the house as though the hallways were the concrete canyons of New York :P !

Unlike the 21st Reps comments on the delay of the Bubble Top P-47, Bad Cats website says that both "Bubble Tops" are on the water according to their Hong Kong Rep.

should have mentioned that Walmart doesn't carry there products anymore. I've gone in 4 WM and they all say there not going to get in anymore planes. I'm pissed. 21st century toys made a huge mistake going with WM.

WM is very happy with 21c products and will continue to carry them. It may just be the stores in your area that won't be....if that is the case even.

No mistake

Post by digger » Thu Dec 09, 2004 10:52 am

No Mistake at all. WM makes it possible to get these planes into every household in the country. And for those of us who have no WM, we can get them online cheap - because of WM! Think about how much XD you've seen since 21st got involved with WM.
The only knock may be that some of the production has gotten shoddy, as someone mentioned, but I'm sure they're taking care of that.....

Just curious, why didn't 21C get the Sky Capt licensing before the film came out?

My guess is that someone in hollywood land discovered the p-40 and said "hey we should do that for our movie we just released 6 weeks ago!" So it is a little late but very cool nonetheless It will be a welcomed addition. Do you think it will come in the new blue 21st boxes? Do you think it will online only? I hope it isn't going to be in a motorworks package.

Yeah, BCA told me the new P-47s were on the water now if not already in the country. Time will tell....

The better question is why do they WANT the Sky Capt. license NOW after the movie's been out and I don't believe it was proven to be a hit by anyone's standards.

Now Hasbro, make us some Head Sculpt & Endor Uniform variations! The new Rebel Fleet Trooper gets the JJ Seal of Approval Though!

they probably got the liscense for next to nothing. A run of a couple of thousand sky captain P-40's doesnt have a ton of profit in it but it will give them some money and it will give them some more exposure..

I would agree with aferg's comments. It was obviously done after the fact. And while it might not have been a blockbuster it is an instant cult classic. Other films like the Nightmare before Christmas which was out over 10 years ago still produce new toys and movie gadgets. A low quantity limited edition run should not be hard to blow through! I will get one for sure! But I also get one of every plane they make so I might not be the best example.

I can see 21st century releasing the P-40 to coincide with the DVD release. Wal-Mart can have a display with the DVD's and the P-40's as well.

It might do ok. My 7 year old is clamoring for a P-40 after seeing the movie, so I've ordered up a flying tiger for Christmas. Wish this one was available now.

Hi

I found and joined this board last week and I've been catching up by reading all the forums to see what has been going on. This is the most impressive place and group of people I have ever seen! It's great to see so many enthusiastic collectors of 1/18 scale. Ya'll rock!! I've been looking for a place to find out what all is up and coming in the 21st Century and BBI lines. I've found it without a doubt. I started collecting 1/18 about a year ago and can't get enough of it. I noticed that one aircraft everyone has mentioned (my favorite plane and my dream to have in 1/18) is the A-10. I've read mixed signals about it becoming a reality. I know from other forums that some of you have been able to talk to reps at 21st Century (who have a prototype). Do you get the feeling that they TRULY are not considering producing the A-10? I think they will be making a huge mistake if they choose to abandon this aircraft. Does anybody know anymore iformation about this subject?

Thanks
Ryan

Welcome to the Board Birddog!! Really happy to have you join us!

The A-10 prototype has been around for almost 2 years now. The main issue with the A-10 is it's shear size. It would dwarf anything out there right now. Each engine inlet nacelle is about the same diameter of the Corsair cowl. That's pretty big!!! One major concern around this is the box. There has to be the ability to fit aircraft in one size box and the A-10 would require a whole new one made up. Sounds silly, but it has to do with shipping sizes and stocking.

That said, you never quite know what's going to kick out of 21st. With bbi around, it might just cause 21st to kick the thing out. I know I would buy a pair!!!

ps: If you haven't checked the Aircraft Profile album, check it out using the website button below. It shows which unit each paint scheme represents! Enjoy!!

Thanks for the welcome Teamski.

That is pretty large but I definitley would buy a couple if they'll put one out. Let's hope they'll consider producing some for special orders or something!!!

Thanks for the info and once again I'm glad to be aboard!!
