I love obscure paint schemes. Especially nice to see them doing one from Red China. But mmaaaannnnn, that is one UGLY paint scheme!!! It just looks way too wierd.

I think that paint scheme looks good, I don't collect post WWII but I think 21st did a fine job on this one. Chinese markings... ya think there were any problems getting this paint scheme approved  na me ether. Great choice, it will go well with an F-86.

interesting choice.....i suspect we'll see a Russian Mig next.

Didn't similarily marked Migs see combat in Korea? I'm sure i've see aviation art of Migs painted like that combating US jets.

The tiger stripe camo was quite common on the MiG-15. I knew that 21st was going to have to do one of these. You can't make a MiG-15 and not do one of these green striped monsters. And I agree that a Russian MiG-15 will also be in the mix somewhere down the road. I suspect a russian one will also be silver (just a guess)
So a green beauty with wild camo is welcomed in my book.

Great find afreg! that reference was what I was going to look for.

the only thing is that it says the striped version saw virtually no combat at all, which surprises me.

Did Migs with Chinese airforce markings see combat over Korea or was it just N. Korean Migs with Chinese pilots?

I don't know much about that war..

I thought that thet did see some combat. I will see what other details I can dig up. I have found several tiger camo examples in the few minutes of research I just did. So either way it is a good specimen for the MiG-15.

How far away is S3?

I have not heard any plans for the S3 yet. My guess is that we will only get S1 & S2 at first.

Ski-

You are pretty much our resident profile hunter / overall aviation guru. Do you know much about these "tiger camo" ships? Did they see combat?

This might sound like a broken record ( I actually have records still) ...

but why is 21C promoting S2 paint schemes when S1 Mig is not ready and available?

Who runs the marketing department at 21C, Chinese or American people?

It seems these early premature pictures are intended not only for the customer collector base, but more to let competitors know that 21C has staked this scheme for the future so hands off AT,BBI etc...

My thoughts I could care less what the 2nd or 3rd or 4th series will look like. Put series 1 on the shelf for me to buy before promoting the next paint scheme. Anytime I have waited to see the next one and pass on buying what's available I have regreted it and usually costs me MORE money to get it 2-3 years later.

Many will want a particluar scheme if available, me I just want to have one and move on to the next offering.

TKO.....just ask Roy when you get a chance....he'll know for sure. This was actually the scheme i was waiting to see for the Mig 15. Very striking.

Great looking paint scheme. I am going to get S1, but S2 looks tempting.

i'm now pretty certain that chinese airforce migs fought over korea. Chinese troops fought on the ground so no reason they wouldn't have aircraft as well. It's RUSSIAN pilots that flew N. Korean Migs. No RUSSIAN airforce migs fought over korea.

And there were many chinese migs in combat in this scheme in 1953 (so, during the last 7 months of the conflict). Prior to 1953 virtually all chinese migs were silver.

Like i said, this was the scheme i was looking forward to the most for the mig 15. :)

well

I know Russian aces flew chinese MiGs as well. Just don't know about this particular scheme but Tiger stripe jets did see combat.

actually that's an interesting point. The pilot for the 21c mig is caucasian. Knowing Roy i bet he picked a chinese airforce scheme that was flown by a russian pilot, so it would all be correct.
