Small Scale Military Headquarters

A friend from Sydney is sending me 6 Dragon 1:18 figs as he's only going 1/6 for his WW2 collection.
I have seen a little bit of stuff on Dragon on their homepage and on eBay and since they havent arrived here yet I am wondering but how do they compare with 21c XD or BBi
Your thoughts?

While I agree the detail is there, they sacrifice the articulation for it.

I must admit I`ve a fair few DML 1/18 US & German figures.

I love the acc`s & head sculpts.

As for the figures I either use them as preset figures for a particular purpose or I adapt them to fit PTE type figures for customized articulated figures.

I`ve just actually finished converting the DML Pieper figure to have Joe articulation Legs & Arms (will be posting later in the week with some other custom WWII stuff).

At the end of the day It`s what YOU want from the figures. Do you like detail & static posed figures? Or do you like detailed & articulated figures?
Though IMHO whichever of these options you chose the DML accessories are certainly worth while buying the figures for IMHO.

That sounds great! Can't wait to see your conversion. It all depends on the figure/accesory I want. If it is something I can not live without, I can sacrafice the articulation. But, I mostly go for being able to "move' the figure.

They are great for variety and fit in well. Heads & hands are a bit too big but the weapons are the best out there. The weapons and kit go great on 21C guys too. Here they are mixed together:

Now, I will say this...the old 21st century {1st series} the articulation was really strange, but the still looked pretty decent. I don't have any of the Dragon stuff, I have seen it up close thou and it is true, there stuff is uo to Dragons good standards. Nice pics!

Short answer: Hell yes!

I had seen them in my local hobby shop and avoided them due to the lack of articulation.

It wasn't until I saw a post by Digger (I think) extolling the virtues that I took the bait and wow am I happy.

I've picked up all of the US troops and the germans except for one special members only figure.

The gear is excellent. I'm most impressed by the cloth ponchos/parkas/tent halves(quarters?) and the removable clips in the mp-40s.

The lack of articulation may seem to be a problem, but when I set up diaramas for some reason the mostly fixed poses of the dragon figures just plain look better than my XD troops.

It's clear that Dragon took the time to create good realisitic poses knowing they were fixed.

The kneeling ones make a good Panzerschreck team.

The weapons are UNBELIEVABLY detailed, as are the web gear and head gear, they come with extra accessories like pistols and hand grenades, and the bodies come apart so you can swap upper bodies.

BUT, the accessories don't always fit/stay on, the stands (yes, they come with stands very similar to the old 21st stands) don't always hold the figures and they have MINIMAL articulation.
And remember, barring any major operation, the standing figs will only stand and the kneeling figures will only kneel.

That said, I have 3-4 of them, and I like them very much. They look GREAT, once they are set up.
