Who wants a 1:18 scale P-61 Black Widow?

I do. :D

Since I was a kid I have always like the P-61 black widow, I think some one should make it in 1:18 scale with in the next 3 years.

This is one of my favorites as well, and would certainly make an awesome 1:18 piece; as also would a B-25, B-26, Mosquito, ME-110 and the list goes on...

I think it would be unlikely, however, due to the size and cost of production, as well as the somewhat limited appeal outside of the aviation/collector community. Look at what is happening with the 21c Avenger, which is a far smaller aircraft.

I voted no even though i would love to see one. Why? Just being a knob i guess...

I had to vote no too - mainly because polls like this are misleading. At the end of the day it will show 90% of people want a Black Widow! but really if there were other choices probably very few people would choose the Black Widow over another bird - Typhoon, Mossie, Hellcat, Macchi, Yak, Val, etc... Any "who wants a ___ " poll with just yes or no doesn't really gauge much..

I would say yes because it is one of the marvels of WWI aircraft. A P-61 also makes a perfect WWII night ops plane for special missions.

Oh Yeah!!

Definately at the top of my list along with the F6F Hellcat!! I'll take two each. Then I'll need a good hiding place from the Mrs. 8)

How can a yes or no poll be misleading?
The question is who wants a 1:18 scale P-61 Black Widow

Two choices:

Yes, I want one

No, I don’t want one

I think most of us want one of whatever they make - that's why we are on this board, so what are you trying to show? Most people who don't want one won't even click onto the poll - there is nothing for them to vote for, so why bother? Just like a poll that asks "do you want a Hawker Hurricane, yes or no" would have a ton of yes and very few no but when it was one of the options among other single engine planes it got 2 votes out of 65:

I'd like to see bombers made in 1:18 scale, a lancaster for example.

I had one from Airfix in 1/72 when I was a kid and I have always loved the Black Widow so that would be a piece to have in my collection.

Who wouldn’t want a widow? It’s a fantastic looking aircraft.

From the "historically significant" collector/display angle, the P-61 is on the fringe when compared to some of the other missing airplanes. It is sexy, big, and unique, yes, but had only minimal impact vs. the enemy in the grand scheme of things.

One also has to ask as a "toy" manufacturer how many people walking into a WM or TRU or touring the sites on the 'net would even know what it was as compared to something else of equivalent size/price like a P-38 or even a B-25.

The P-61 was the first U.S. aircraft designed from the start to be a night fighter. By the time it arrived with combat squadrons in mid-1944, targets for it were scarce. This explains why it didn't pile up a large score of enemy planes destroyed. Even though its kill record was rather low compared to other fighters in the War it was an extremely capable and deadly aircraft.
Historically significant or not, it’s an awesome aircraft that will probably never get built in 1:18. I hope I’m wrong, I would definitely buy 2.

It has it from me on the cool factor. But, there are plenty of other subjects I would rather see first.

I voted No. Very cool airplane, but if it came out, would I buy it? Nope, running out of space for airplanes (even if the wife is letting me move a bunch into my son's room  ), so I need to start being more selective.

I'd love to see it personally. It is just too damn cool of a plane to write it off!

It would look good hanging next to my P-38's. :)
