Having both, the Mustang wins 'hands down'. Pappy's plane was the King of the roost prior to receiving my Mustang, especially with the historical significance...but The Killer has details, and accuracy, that I can spend hours staring at.... Had Pappy's Corsair had decent detail where the wings are exposed in the folded position, it would have been a closer call.

All said and ddone, however, I would never part with either plane.

Bite the 50 cal bullet, and spring for both!

To answer your question (I have both as well), each are rather accurate renditionings of the aircraft they replicate. The BBI P-51 has the best detail hands down. Its a pretty sturdy, lightweight plane. You can check out the P-51 thread for plenty of descriptions regarding the pros and cons. Some of the biggest complaints with the P-51 are the markings, which are somewhat inaccurate. For example, the O should be a Q and the pilot's name isn't Capt. John Madden. There's also a missing pitot tube. Otherwise the plane's perfect!

The Boyington Corsair uses the same moulding as all the other 21st Corsairs, so nothing new there, save that you may want to loosen the screws in the wing joints so they bend more easily and have less of a risk of breaking. The paintjob is excellent and has great, realistic weathering on the wings and fuselage. On some planes, however, there was a small gap of lighter blue along the area where the wing contacts the fuselage.

If I was only going to buy one, hmmm, I'd probably go with Boyington's Corsair for personal reasons. Boyington lived out his last years in my hometown and was a friends with my father. If it was any other Corsair paintjob vs the BBI P-51, for me, I would choose the Mustang! Glad to see you're getting both.

The P-51 hands down! There's just something about it. Plus I feel the P-51 is a better-looking airplane.

Of course, the Mustang and Corsair will both take a back seat if BBI ever comes out with an authentic bubbletop P-47!

Mustangs wins hands down. Detail, accuracy, you name it the Mustang has it. Boyingtons F4U is a simple repaint with his markings on it and thats all. I passed up on the Boyington Corsair because I wanted the Ike Kepford release, I'm a VF-17 fan. But the Mustang wins hands down.
