How is the R/C M113?

Post by nfafan » Sat Jun 17, 2006 12:27 am

Hello all,
Just picked up one of the last OD R/C M113s on the shelf at WallyWorld. The PzIVs were long gone.

I read here somewhere that the PzIV had some feature that made the barrel bob up and down, but not having opened the M113 yet, is there any surprises that this vehicle does?

Also, has anyone tried to canabalize the R/C gear from one and put it in any other 21C XD18 armor?

Thanks in advance!

There's not too many surprises, other than the fact that all the hatches are blocked. That can be easily fixed however... The vehicle doesn't have quite all the features of the Panzer IV - meaning the turret is not RC. The machine gun sound is cool, though. The RC M-113 (or at least mine) moves slower than the Panzer IV as well. I unblocked the commander hatch and the troop compartment top hatch on my vehicle and placed some BBI troops in them to give the M113 a little more character.

I have thought about taking the electrical components from one of the RC vehicles and make, say, an RC Sherman, but don't really have the expertise to go kitbashing something that complicated...

I read somewhere on an rc tank board that the gearbox fits ok into the german halftrack.Finding a gearbox that fits and has the drives in the right position is the most important consideration for converting the halftrack to rc. I had mine going for a while with a small kyosho tank gearbox but now the gears have stripped and I will have to find something else.
