Did I just get unlucky?

Post by Moth » Sat Jun 03, 2006 8:41 am

I got my 1/18 BBI Zero, beautiful plane and all, but the prop is very loose, it wobbles on the axle.
Do all Zeros have a very loose prop, or did I get get a bad one?

Is it visibly noticable?? I know mine wobbles as well, but you can't see it without touching it....

Mine is loose as well. It just doesn’t spin well. Not worth returning in my opinion. Very clean plane other than the prop. Still, the box was a little messed up. Not like the usual Bad Cat shipments I have gotten in the past. If yours is really bad I would just send it back. My Pearl Harbor Zero has a loose prop as well. I guess it’s just the nature of the beast. Some are better than others. I'm very pleased with mine.

Just got one from Badcat yesterday. the prop spins freely, but not too wobbly. Can you take the cockpit out, reach inside, and maybe try to push the pin that's holding the prop on in tighter??? I didn't look inside mine to see if there's a pin or not, but that's the way most props are held on.

I just compared my Zeros to my 21C planes after reading your post. The Zeros' props wobble a little more than any of the 21C planes. The Corsairs and P-47s are closer to the Zero. I never noticed this before, but doesn't make a difference to me. 8)

The prop on mine wobbles and doesn't spin as freely as the prop on my BBI Corsair and many other 21c aircraft. It really doesn't bother me and certainly isn't worth returning the plane for.

Now, when I got my Zero a few months ago, I did get an unlucky plane with 2 left stabilizers :? Luckily, the customer service at BCA pulled through and sent me the correct piece :)

I didn’t notice a pin in mine. It looked like a plastic "pop like" fastener. It might have just been an engine piece. Either way, it didn’t looked easily fixable. You would probably have to pull the motor assembly out through the back and pop the prop off without breaking the whole thing. It’s been my past experience that all bbi props wobble a bit and almost all 21C props spin feely or at least much better than bbi’s. Maybe they could address this on future aircraft. For me, I really don’t care unless I’m trying to spin the prop for a photo or something.

Thanks for the help guys!

The Prop spins very freely, but wobbles like hell, I will not be returning it, I just wanted to know if all of them are like that, or just mine.

Again thanks for the support

They're all wobbly on the zekes.

If you want the spin effect for a photo shoot go manual and close it down while extending the exposure time.
