Don't most Canadians feel they are in the 51st state? Up here in the 49th state, most people feel more akin to Canada than to the rest of the US. Must be the cold weather...or the hockey...or both!

51st state? No not really. We have free medical care and except for the occassional chilly winter the climate is pretty mild mannered. No hurricanes, tornadoes, earthquakes, mud slides, volcanoes etc etc etc.

what it means, is that lockheed, boeing cannot charge licensing fee's and or make companies pay for the right to use thier models for toys and models

And the funny thing about that is that the Government paid for them... Our/parents/grandparents tax dollars/bonds paid for them, not the companies..

I was going to say the exact same thing - do you think Stevens, 21st or bbi will in turn lower prices on our end? Ha!
It might allow more obscure birds to be explored but I wouldn't expect to see the WM price drop down to 37.98...

Anything that keeps our toy distributers
in business is going to be good for us in the long run. I just E-mailed my congressman. I think this rule was stupid to begin with. The Krupp steel family in Germany doesn't get royalties from Tiger tank models, Why should someone like Lockheed get them? Just my opinion.

Does this tie in at all with the thing I posted in the Reference forum about DoD stopping the contractors using US Armed Forces markings in their publicity material? I know it's not a direct link but it's a similar sort of thing and the timing's pretty close...

I wouldn't expect the price of the models to drop too much, especially in the short term, since the things still cost the same to make (with the impending oil shortage British oil companies keep using to push up the price at the petrol pump, plastic could soon start costing more so the models will start costing more too...)

Hopefully I'll be wrong and the price will drop drastically... then all I need to do is figure out how to ship a dozen or so models back after my next holiday Stateside...

I don't look for them to drop, but maybe rise a little slower.
a friend who works at Revell-Monogram told me a couple of years ago
that a 1/24 model of a Nascar car, time all royalties were paid added $2.25 to each kit.
so if added to each $10.00 kit that would make retail $12.25.
the motor co. gets a cut, the team gets a cut, and some sponsors (STP,Goodyear,etc) get theres also.

Actually, i saw an episode of Myth Busters and apparently illegal aliens from Canada are catipulting themselves across the Canada/US border into the states. They were testing the validity of the catipulting myth.

It was all news to me...especially since about 99% of the border is ungaurded and unfenced so why not just walk across?

And we've been working on technology to jam US Reality TV shows from entering our airspace, for years. But to no avail. In fact we now have our own, copycat Reality TV shows.
