Small Scale Military Headquarters

Hey all, I decided to accept Chief Warrant Officer 5 and stay in the Army a little longer, and now I am moving to Fort Monroe, Virginia. I havent saved many aircraft boxes because I thought I was retiring. Anybody have any good tips on how to safely pack these beauties up so that they dont get damaged? anyone with experience packing for the long haul?

If you're having to drive up before time for any reason, hand carry them up. I did that when we moved here from Utah - brought the most delicate items myself when we came househunting before hand. Otherwise, big box with plenty of packing peanuts, and don't put too much in the box.

Loosely crumpled newspaper makes a wonderful packing materiel for delicate items, and it's cheap! A word of caution though, if you use newspaper, be sure to put the model in a plastic garbage bag or something first, because the newsprint ink is nasty stuff, and it can come off on anything it comes in contact with. Good luck on your move, I hope everything gets there in one piece for you.

And don't forget the little pieces. I know this sounds overly simplistic, but I always put the little pieces that can get lost into ziploc baggies. you can label them on the bag and hopefully not lose anything. Especially pilots and their masks, helmets, xtra parts missles and fuel tanks etc...

Appreciate the advice. I'll be out tomorrow gathering ziploc bags and newspaper Going to leave most in storage. Only taking a few pieces with me. Now the hard part is which ones?
