How much a month do you spend on 1:18?

Post by STUKA » Tue Apr 04, 2006 8:22 am

If this was already posted - sorry - but - I'm interested in everybody's spending habits.

So here is a poll.

Sure I know one month you may spend $39.99 and the next $100 but think your average.

As a rule I`d say I`m in the $50-100 bracket.

As i`m always buying Joe parts or whatever for customizing & then of course there`s the BBI,XD,etc etc etc.

Alas though with several financial pressures as of late,I forsee a few months it`s going to be rather quiet on that front.

If we got figures and vehicles like we get planes, I'd be in a much higher bracket. And fortunately, this doesn't take into account all my other toy "addictions"

My spending habits really depend on the month. Some months are better than others as new planes, tanks, or figures show up in some moreso than others.

I try not to think about it (for the same reason I try not to count how many planes I have).

Income tax refund.

Post by lablksmith » Tue Apr 04, 2006 11:58 am

Spent more the last month than I have in a while. New BOBs coincided with income tax refund. Bought a plane and the BBI figs. Dont want to be a blasphemer but could use a short break...

OOps I did put a a place for (other) on the poll but it did not show?
So I guess just state you spend more -

I usually pick up at least 4 new 1:18 figures a month - usually 2 every paycheckv - I use my travel money...

The problem is the OMG and the BOBII figures came right on top another along with the re-release of the Japanese marines. I picked up all of the marines at once due to the fact that the first series was gone before I ever had a chance to find them. So the last few months I have gone way above my average.

Fluctuates for me depending on whether new stuff has come out. I'm more into the armor and figures too so I guess I'm not spending as much as the aviation folks.

before I got sick of the re-paints and wasting my money on stuff I really did not want but just getting something new was cool I was spending $100 per month at least. Some months like when the apache was released I bought 2.. and a new figure release I would get 1 of each..

now I am on a spending strike (almost one year) for platoon Vietnam XD figures.

I make extensive use of Wal-marts lay away. So I have at any one time maybe three to four items in at a time. so maybe 50 bucks a month some more some less.
Could not think of anything to put here.

My spending budget on 1:18 is limited only to release dates, and store availability! Last month was CRAZY with new figs, new 1:18 planes and even the new 1:32 guys got me to open my wallet.

The better question / poll is... How much do you spend on your storage unit per month!

The option wasn't there when I voted but I spend over 150 every month at least. I've 2 more F-104's now coming in and a Mustang. Plus I'm ready for the Avenger as well.

I had to put at least $100 for those months when something new comes out and I make my move 8)
I am also prone to spend money on a random G scale building or extras which add up.

Another difficult thing about this is time periods. For the last 6-8 months, there hasn't been alot of vehicles and figures, and I haven't been working on my G-scale trains, so I'm in the 20-50. But, before that, when I was working on my layouts, we started getting the $23 walmart vehicles, and Episode 3 SW came out, I was easily over $150 a month. Now, once I get in the new house, set my collection back up, and settle in, and with the hope of the MiGs coming soon, along with some of the other aircraft out now/being released, and HOPEFULLY the Platoon figures, that number is going to skyrocket.

Yeah, with a real lack of goods as of late, I'm also averaging only $50 or so. Pretty sad! I remember going broke when the P-38, Corsair and Stuka came out along with the Tiger I, US and German HT's. Now that month was costly!!

spending!

Post by 75th Ranger » Tue Apr 04, 2006 9:28 pm

Well,
my spending on 1/18 has stopped after many thousands of dollars and a huge collection.

Now, I'm on 1/6 and i can tell you I spend a lot more there. there are months of $ 10 to $50 dollars but i can spend well over $1000 in one month. Oh! the dark side........for example a new figure $50+ dollars and then you want 5 or even 8 to make a squad...and then you just spend all your money!!!!!

I don't think about it as an expense, but rather as an investment in my happiness and well-being. I love each and everyone of my airplanes, tanks, soldiers, tanks....It's a lot cheaper than a shrink!

I voted between $10 & $20 since there isn't much in the way of figures or armor that I can get at retail that I don't already have.
Aircraft? Bah, if man were meant to fly he'd have wings! Give me armor and lots of it.
