Joy Toy 1/18 WWII Soviet Infantry Review?

Post by aferguson » Mon Mar 13, 2023 8:43 pm

Can anyone give a quick review of these 5 figures? To my eye from what I've seen they look a bit super hero-ish in proportion with oversized weapons. Is that a fair assessment?

They look good to me with weapons the right side.
They do look a bit too healthy .
Stalin liked to starve his people.
Kirk Douglas : Mine hit the ground first
John Wayne : Mine was taller

I don't have any of these Russians but do have some of the German joytoy figures and I like them.
The German figures are not "super hero-ish" at all. I'm wondering if it could be the closeup picture they
used that gives this impression of the soviet troops and their weapons.

interesting, thanks guys. On BIg Bad Toy Store site it says they are 4.13 inches tall...which is pretty big, almost 6' 3" in height. That's kinda large, more like 1/17 scale.

BTW, how are Marauder's figures? They look quite good, albeit pricey...

I just took the Joytoy German Spring camo figures and the German officer in black tunic and stood them next 21st figures and some FOV Germans
and the Joytoy figures fit right in! If anything they are slimmer /thin (physical appearance) in comparison to the other brands.
Also their articulation is far superior as well.

If they are referring to just the 1:18 WWII Soviet Inf. I don't know.
I don't have any Marauder figures, they didn't impress me and hat and helmet sculpts (on the Germans), did come close for me.

I’ve got a set of the Joy Toy Soviet Infantry and German SS troops but have yet to open them. I also have the Marauder Task Force (MTF) WWII figures as well. That said, the Joy Toy figures are closer to 3.75” or 1/18 scale and are noticeably shorter than the MTF figures. Those are 4” figures, so kind of in between 1/18 and 1/16 (guess we could say 1/17?) I also like the weathering on the Joy Toy figures a little better. They look dirtier than the MTF figures. However, the MTF weapons are definitely better and could be used with the Joy Toy figures.

Again, I’ve not opened my Joy Toy figures yet, but do have some of the MTF figures assembled. Here’s some pics of the MTF Russian figures next to the Merit 1/16 scale T-34/85. The Rank Commander on the T-34 is a 1/16 scale half figure. The MTF figures nevertheless scale well with the tank and are this a little large for 1/18:

Thanks Tman. That's a surprise. The Joy Toy figures are listed as 4.13 inches tall, so i figured they would be the larger of the two brands
