How hard is it to switch out heads on XD figures?

And how would be the best way to go about it?

I'm want to switch a few of the heads on German BoB figures to mix them up a bit , but I've only customized GI Joes, which have the screw in the back. I don't want to break my figures, so I weary of just taking hold and trying to pull them out of the socket.

Quick & Pull !

That's exactly what you do. .....Take all their gear off first, and just,....take hold,...quick & pull ! ...Don't be afraid. ......HAHAHAHAHAHA !! ....

If it doesn't want to budge, try running it under hot water for a minute or so to softer up the plastic, then pull.

Before you pull the heads off hold them under hot water so it is less likely that you break necks/pegs. When you go to put the heads on another figure you might have to shave around the hole that keeps the head in place. You should always heat the portion of the body you are trying to remove like feet and hands. Also not all XD heads are all that compatible with other XD figures. I sure there is a board member that knows what heads will fit well on others figures bodies. Always heat up before you start taking them apart, I cannot stress that enough

The easiest is the reissued truck/jeep driver.
I got a bunch in a trade and I went crazy using BBI heads on the driver XD body. Just pop, switch, pop!

The BOB figures are easy too.
But as everyone else has warned you, HOT WATER the figure first and then pull.
Saves great deal of grieve later...

It worked like a charm and they look great. I also found an unexpected bonus, in that if i take the head from the Closed coat BoB Infantry and put it on the non-jacketed body of the Open coated BoB Infantry I get a pretty good looking Standard German Infantry Soldier. It's not perfect, but it's passable.

Speaking of German soldiers, there's a bunch of custom figures you can make with the BoB German figures, or their parts, just like you described :D

Oh....Nice. I really like the Snow Camo Infantry. I had passed on the White Tanker cause I don't currently own a Snow Camo Tank and most of them come with Tankers, but I really like that figure. I may go back and pick up the white Tanker and see if I can track down an Infantry with the white camo helmets. (Still only seen the black helmet ones here.) and make a couple of those. I really like them.

Man, I feel an addiction coming on here. All I wanted was for my Germans to not be clones, but now I'm seeing so many possiablites beyond that.

Thanks :) The BoB S1 repaints showed up in my area in droves, and I bought a ton of the open-coat and close coat infantry for use in a variety of means. The new BoB troops with the extra accessories should add alot of fuel to your customizing projects!

Yeah I'm really looking forward to them...Provided they actually show up. Most of the Wal-Marts around here are clogged to the gills with Pacfic Marines and Imperial figures.

Well the methods on popping have been covered so I won`t repeat, though as well as running under hot water, also boil the kettle & let it soak in Really Hot water for a very short time too. Use pliers there though :D

As for the NEW BoB,I`m looking forward to these they do indeed look awesome :D

Also tmanthegreat,
Love seeing these guys mate, there GREAT :D i have them saved on my puter but still nice to always see them :D
