Small Scale Military Headquarters

I'm just tossing this up for grabs but....we have all pined for the "A" version of the FW-190 since 21st C released the DORA.

Logically speaking I'd bet there's a pretty good chance Admiral has considered this aircraft as well......any takers on this idea?

Good idea - especially for someone like Admiral who is up-and-coming in the military toy business. The FW-190A is a popular and famous plane. There's also lots of repaint possibilities

I think it will be some time before you see a new 190....we know how the Dora played out.

FW-190A would be fantastic. Many great paint schemes as well. I'm all for it!

I wonder if 21st could modify the molds of the current 190 and turn it into an A model. Probably not but would like to see an A model.

I built a Fw 190-A a couple of years ago, Hans Bar's plane (red 23) I sold it on e-bay for around $300.00, It was one of the toughest custom jobs i have ever done, I used a dora to start with, Prop, spinner, Complete cowling, exaust, all have to be changed, Fuselage has to be cut down, It was a pain to build but she was nice, The collector who bought it would not let me ship it, He drove to Mississippi to pick it up at my shop, I still have the molds, maybe i should build a couple more, Any input?

FW 190-A . . . . YES ! ! !

It's one of my all-time favorite planes.

It's an absolute WWII classic and deserves a 1/18 scale offering from someone.

Count me "in" for at least two from the start and probably many more, depending on the re-paints. Trust me; I'm using my collection of way too many 109's as proof.

Sound cool Hun, but I do have a question: Wasn't the nose section of the aircrfat substantially larger than the following models? If so, how did you go about modifying that?

The cowl area of the "A" model was much shorter and alot more round than the "D". The double-row BMW engines were close to the twin Wasp radial engines with a closely contoured cowl. When the Dora was fitted with the Jumo in-line engine, the radiator was situated immediately behind the spinner giving it a somewhat "radial engine" appearence. Because it was longer, the Dora was also fitted with a fuselage extension (seen immediately in front of the tail-plane) to offset the weight/balance caused by the extended nose. Main wings, tail, and central fuselage was generally unchanged between the A and D, at least externally. For some great walkaround shots, try this website. http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl= ... So the apparently wider nose on the A model is due to the fact that the fuselage is shorter, creating the effect. Am I correct?

What a cool site!! I did some backwards surfing and there is a selection of great drawings for those Mustang enthusiasts among you.

Some of the drawings show overlapping versions so one can see the differences in airframe, shape, etc.

Oh yeah, the info capabilities of the internet do not cease to amaze me. I've found some very obscure information related to biblical archaeology on several sites, while it took me years to research some of that stuff in libraries and such.
