Cybermodeller website says that Hobby Boss is releasing a kit version of the 1:18 Harrier later this month!

I missed out on the original Harrier... will this be pre-painted kit that you just have to put together? Or a true model you have to build?

Based on what I’ve read it’s a kit that you have to build. It’s supposed to be released soon.

And as it says right there on scalemates it is based on the Merit plane.
It is simply the 2015 plane reformatted as a kit, just as they did for the Dauntless and recently did for the FW190-A. They altered some parts to make it less toy-like (the gear are now plug-in, rather than functional) but the detail has not been changed, so if anything what you have is a modern version of the old Revell kits from the 70's except with engraved rather than raised panel lines.

Many years ago JSI had announced that they were going to release the Tomcat in Kit form, but then talked died out and nothing ever happened.

Maybe we’ll see it appear again...
If someone has the idea to buy the mold back...
