Modern US Soldier Figures from Tieka - Ourwar

Post by granch » Sat May 20, 2017 11:44 am

Hello Guys,
I saw som topics here about these modern figures and decided to buy a bunch of these. Because I didn't want to pay about 50$ as seen on eBay to US sellers, I scrolled down to chinese sellers, and could find the 6 figures as a puzzle for 13,50$ here:

Not so cheap (about 16$), but all mounted figures:

Choosed the puzzle kit, to make some custom paint easier. But these figures are not as excllent as other guys said. Neck from afro-american figures are white. Heads are too small. Hands can't hold any weapon properly. The weapons joinded are oversized in comparison to the figures and are a little bit fantasy (Luger pistol, AKs...). Small détails, of course and not so bad overall with many accessories: Helmet, helmet with NVG, fatigue cap, usual backpack, water (camel-) backpack for each figure.

Disappointment came when I put this figure with others, it is much smaller:

(From the left, OURWAR, Powerteam Elite, BBI Elite Force, 21st Century and 2 GI Joe, less or more customized).
So I think that I'm going to resell these figures. Can't use them, even if they would probably fit easier in my BBI Blackhawks. Could be used side by side with some underscaled Humvees like those frome Maisto. But don't have any of these. I thought naively that 1:18th and 3.75" should be the same scale for all manufacturers...
And you, what do you think about it?

Comparing those to the actual Ourwar figures I got a few years back, definitely seems like quality dipped. The originals had much better paint jobs.

I remember when the original Our War figures were released that it was around the same time the FOV Bravo Team figures were available at Target stores in the US. IMHO, the Bravo Team figures looked better, came with more accessories, and were a steal at about $5 per figure. I bought a ton of the Bravo Team figures, never got the Our War ones.

Yeah, the OurWar Modern figures were pretty lackluster, even when they were originally made. The WWII Germans that they made were significantly better, though.

A couple of months ago the seller from China who seemed to be the only one on eBay to have these in any quantity put them on deep discount. They were on for several years at the original price. I just looked and can't find any.

I checked with a guy who deals with toys / collectables and China and he hasn't found anything either.

There are 2 sellers with them listed as I type this.

I remember someone on this forum who worked for that company talking about how they were going to make Russians, or something, too. I wonder whatever happened to that? I recall that they hosted a poll on the Fighting 1:18 (I think that's it's name) for people to vote on what uniforms and weapons to give them.
