is the r/c panzer IV die cast or plastic?

I couldn't resist the beautiful looks of the Panzer tank at WM, so I ended up buying it. On top of that, it was down to $ 28.84 (what a weird price).

I must say however, that I was dissappointed once I had it up and running! The sounds are very toyish, the recoil very irrealistic, and it just moves too fast. The controls over-react and within a few minutes, the gears on the left track were not working, causing the tank to go around in circles.

Still, I'm glad I did get it. It' s beautiful in detail, and the paint job is very nice. The turret's openings are not deep, so there's no way to place a soldier in there, such as is the case with the 21C Sherman, which is another beauty, especially when it comes to detail.

I'd defenitely recommend getting this tank, especially at a discounted price.

After the batteries are gone, I'll probably chop the r/c antenna and just use it as a display model.

Glad you like it! The gears are a problem, but you have to work through it. If you find an M113, this runs better than the panzer IV, though it lacks the cool turret traverse function. I agree that the firing recoil function is a little over done as well, but its a nice touch. Figures can be made to fit within the tank either by opening up the vehicle and removing the interior hatch covers, or by removing the legs section from a figure (by soaking it in hot water) and placing the figure in the hatch. Overall, despite the problems, I am very pleased with all the features 21c/NMT incorporated into an accurate RC model of a WWII German tank

Thanks TMan. I appreciate your comments and hints regarding opening of the hatches. By the way, is there any room inside the tank to place a steel plate or similar object, to make it a heavier vehicle? I figured that doing this would probably have the same effect as reduced voltage going to the engine.

The gears and electronics are pretty well packed in the tank. You may be able to add weight using fishing weights stuck in various places as there's not much room for a steel plate. One would probably fit within the RC M113, though.
