After reading the other thread on the Avenger dive and thinking back on some of my own misadventures with broken gear doors and the like, I thought it might be worthwhile to walk down memory lane of the most solid models in our collections.
I've got to dash, but I 'll start with the BBI Bf 109 (2nd release).
Aside from the top antenna feeling a little hard, this model has remarkably few protruding antenna/greebly bits that feel like they are ready to snap if you pick it up wrong. The wing surfaces are all fairly sturdily secured, and the way the wings mate with the body don't fill me with that "I can see through the plane due to gaps" feeling.

BBI (for the most part) has always had robust models. Their P-51D and A6M2 Zero in particular are made from hard plastics, assemble easily, and are very sturdy once put together. Their Corsair and BF-109 aren't bad either. The early BBI modern aircraft: F-18, F-16, Apache, Blackhawk, and Littlebird are built like bricks... Those could fall from 10 feet and more and not break. I always thought BBI was able to get the best compromises in durability, detail, function, and consistent quality control with their models.
