Thought I would let everyone know that while poking around on Shapeways tonight, I noticed that Battleground Toys (Grunt1) now has the RSO and Krupp Protze up for sale on Shapeways - Also there is a code for 20% off till the end of November 30 - CYBER2015

Cost is the one thing holding back 3D printing in the hobby world. I like that RSO but for the complete
kit, its going to run you $820.00. :?

I just got my issue of Fine Scale modeler in Tuesday and they have the 1602 Baby Panther in an article .

It turns out that the Turret and cannon used on the 1602 protype turret was built before the one on the 234 Puma .

For $60 it is worth getting and hopefully easier to tweek that making the whole thing from scratch .

So I will be ordering the Puma turret !!! And thank you Pat were ever you are !!!!!

Thanks for posting .

That was the idea I had Pickel, I got one and for the price it is worth it ! The turret is sturdy but will need some surface preparation, to make it smoother.

Cool looking tank.....

Normandy I couldn't agree more. I would love to pick up those two vehicles, but unfortunately at that price it isn't going to happen. If shapeways were more affordable I am sure that Grunt could sell a ton. Secondly That tank is awesome, I would love to see one of those made. :D

Kind of a vicious circle here. The items would probably become cheaper if more people bought them, but they are essentially niche items so the pool of potential customers may not be large enough for that to happen.

Have to play the waiting game and see if the tech overall becomes cheaper and hopefully Shapeworks will be able to produce things at a more feasible price.

I have about $1,000 invested in 3-D prints on the Hind project .

The Hind would cost $3,000- $4,000 if I had it fully 3-D printed .

At this time prototypes are ideal with 3-D printing. Production runs , not so much.

Its a shame, the potential is huge for the hobby.......any model in almost any scale.
The thing that kills it is the price that is charged for print time.
