Are there two versions of the Panzer IV RC tank by New Millennium Toys (looks like Ultimate Soldier)? One version is tan and dark brown with 634 decal and the other version is tan only with 122 decal. Is either of these versions more rare than the other? What kind of quality toy are these tanks? Thanks for any help.

You're correct - there are 2 versions of the RC Panzer IV. The tan colored "#122" tank is the S1 version with the S2 being the brown & tan cammo "#634" version. Its tough to say which is more rare - I've seen them both in the same store in my area, however, the S1 tan version was always the more common.

There was a thread a few weeks ago highlighting some isolated QC issues with the S2 "#634" Panzers in which some were found with broken bogey wheels, others (including the ones I saw) looked & worked fine. Overall, however, the quality of the RC Panzer IVs has been quite good and have not had the widespread defects that the 1/9 M1 Abrams tanks have. The tracks tend to come off, however, when doing extensive manuvering on rough terrain. I own an S1 "#122" Panzer: it has worked fine and I have been quite pleased. They move quite fast and can run over some pretty rough terrain & obstacles. The sound is OK and the turret traverse function is cool.

There are also two versions of the RC M113, including the S1 desert cammo version and the S2 NATO (woodland) cammo version. The M113 runs and has sound, but no turret function. I have the NATO version and it runs quite well - perhaps better than my Panzer IV!

tmanthegreat, thanks for the info. I went ahead and opened the tan S1 version. I guess I am going to sell the S2 on Ebay. I have a 13 week old puppy that my new tank has been chasing around the house for the last 3 hours. It is great! I can not stop laughing!

The Panzer IV is a very cool tank. It is a deal at $25 as well! ***One word of caution,*** as Tman stated, The S2 Panzer did in fact have a problem broken bogies. 2 out of 6 at my WM were broken. Inspect carefully!

Okay- What are: "problem broken bogies"?
The little wheels inside the track or something else.

I found the R/C Panzers and M113s @ 25.00 each at my WM.

Anybody want one???

The small road wheels that the ground side of the tread rolls on are the bogies.
