Small Scale Military Headquarters

I tried to ask this question over at the 1/6 scale forum but I'm not a member and they are not accepting any new ones at this time. I'm hoping one of the gang here could help.

I finally bought the RC HUMVEE a couple of days ago. I absolutley love it! The only problem I am having is that it makes a "chugging" noise and seems to surge when I operate it at low speeds. Once I accelerate a little faster it seems to go away and runs fine. The problem is somewhere in the rear transmission, possibly in the differential. If I turn the power off, pick the HUMVEE by its front bumper with its front wheels off of the ground, rolling it on its rear wheels, it will make the noise and I can feel the surging then too.

I guess my question is has anyone noticed this with their HUMVEE, or is it just mine. If no one else has had this problem then this HUMVEE has a one way ticket back to WM.

I havent played with my Himmer in awhile but I dont remember it doing what you describe. Probably worth exchanging it just to be sure.

Yeah, thats kind of what I figured. BIG toys are cool but they are a pain toting back and forth to return. Looks like I'll be making that WM trip, AGAIN, soon! Thanks for the response .

Anyone else having/not having this problem with their HUMVEE?

My hummer is pretty much perfect in its operation. The only thing mine does is that while standing still the front steering twitches a bit. This is most likely due to radio interference though. Sounds like yours needs to go back. I must add that this thing is an amazingly stout little beast. It’s the only r/c vehicle I’ve had that can cross my yard, jump the curb into the street and take out a 20lb flower pot without as much as a stutter. Good luck lugging that beast back to the store.

You do have a solution but it will cost. There is at least one guy on eBay who sells the Stuart and Humvee in pieces.

I've bought a few things from him as accessories. I guess he figures he can make more money in parts than selling whole.

My local WM has about 20+ and are marked down to $150, I'm thinking about getting one if it falls to $100 or less. How are they overall? Fast? and are they 4WD? Are they as fun as the Stuart? Even though they are'nt a tank?

Fast is an understatement! These things fly! They are a bunch of fun in wide open spaces. Mine was going fast and then I made a sharp turn and it rolled four times on the asphalt and kept on trucking (lucky for their rubber mirrors). They are a lot of fun!

To everyone who responded: Thank you for your help!!!!!! I have decided to exchange the HUMVEE. Hopefully that will solve the problem. I will keep everyone posted.

For anyone considering the RC HUMVEE: Get one, you'll love it. I am surprised at how well constructed and heavy it is. Combine that with its speed and realistic performance and you've got a winner.

Well, I exchanged the HUMVEE. I am glad to report that all is well with the new one. Thanks for everyones input, your help is greatly appreciated.

Have any of you customized your HUMVEE? Are there any 1/6 scale bits and pieces available to detail this thing?

Well, one of the WMs in Little Rock had them marked down to $50, so I picked one up. Haven't even gotten it out of the box yet.
