1:18 scale vehicles question

Post by spect_spidey » Wed Dec 28, 2005 3:22 am

Does anyone know if the Solido or Maisto 1:18 scale Jeeps and Humvees are a true 1:18? Can you fit a 1:18 21st Century or BBI figure behind the wheel without removing their legs?

Well I have several Solido Jeeps. There spot on with the XD one`s if that`s any help.

I pref the Solido one`s i must admit,there cheap & plentyfull,compared to expensive & hard to get XD one`s.

As for maitso Humvee`s. I used to have 3 of them & they work well but parted with them ages ago & now only have PTE,BBI & XD Humvee`s.

Solido and Gate Jeeps work great, Maisto Humvee not so much. The Maisto Humvee cannot hold a figure and with how cheap the XD version is there is no reason to get the Maisto version. The XD humvee is spot on 1:18 scale, the bbi version a little too big, and the Joe Humvee the biggest of the three. Also while the Maisto OD version is OK, the tri-color desert scheme is goofy imo.

digger ~ What about the Power Team Elite Humvees? Are they the right scale or are they a little big as well? Just curious because my local KB Toys has two different PTE Humvees for $14.99. They have the standard version and then the canvas covered transport version.

Well i have the PTE Humvee`s & they fit in well with the BBI & XD Humvee`s. All 3 are slightly (barely noticable) different but they do all work together very well. Add that PTE do have the cargo version as part of it`s lineup.
I`ll sort out a photo for tomorrow if you like?

Anyone have any detailed pictures of the Power Team Elite Ford Jeep? I was wondering how good it is.

If you want a nice Humvee you need to locate an Exoto Humvee. They aren't cheap but they are in my opinion the best true 1/18 scale Humvee available. They are almost totally made of die-cast metal, weighing I believe close to 3-4 pounds each. Lots of operating features and super detailed too. I have three of them, 1 woodland camo and 2 desert camo versions. I love 'em. They can be hard to find but they are worth the effort. Check on eBay, they pop up there from time to time.

I agree, I have a desert exoto hummer and it is very heavy and accurate.
BBI modern figs look great with it!

Well as you can see the XD one is the smaller (height wise mainly) of all 3 brands. The PTE pretty much match up with BBI though.

As said hope this helps mate.

Nothing like that! I just thought it was funny to see a toe in some of SteelBonnet pics and some of the Humvees use "TOW" missles so my "TOE" comment is a play on the word "TOW".
Comedy isn't pretty when you have to explain it...

My apologies to you. I noticed the toes in the picture as well, and was layering my comedy on top of your comedy. Ooops..

steel bonnet ~ thanks for the pictures. it has helped me decide on what to get. I have a desert M1025 by 21st. So now I have decided to get the PTE cargo humvee, and either a woodland or SWAT BBi Humvee.

What about 1:18 scale military trucks and military ambulance vans by Mira? Do BBi & 21st Century figures fit behind the steering wheels of these? I found a few for about $20 each, but can't tell if they have enough room to accomodate a driver or passenger. Can anyone help me on this one?

Where did you see the Mira Humvee? I don't think I have ever seen one of these. Are they decent?

How do you like the PTE cargo Humvee? I was going to get one a while ago but I couldn't find them when I went back. Did you get yours at KB? I like the idea of another model Humvee other than the "turtle". I think we have enough of those  .

I haven't seen a Mira Humvee, just a 1950's Chevy military ambulance van and a 1950's Chevy military truck. The PTE cargo humvee is pretty cool. Although not historically accurate, it makes a nice replacement for the Dodge Weapons Carrier until I can actually find one in my area.
