I´ve bought a BBI F18 and the seller wants to dismantle it for packaging and sending.
Is there a trick or hint to dismantle the wings??
Thanks for every answer

Do you mean the folding part of the wings, or separate the whole wing from the fuselage?
Anyway, it is not an easy job and your seller should be patient (all depending on what is cheaper: the shipping costs or the sellers time...) I thing the best way is to wait for sunny and warm days. So the plastic will be softened and a very slow < and > movement should separate the parts without breaking. Could be made easier with a silicone spray in the slots. Because I dont trust how the paint, decals and plastic stand silicone, the parts should be washed with a soft soap after dismantling.

Should be pretty simple.

Even the fuselage seperates into two parts.

We did it. Problem was the wings have been glued a little bit. But he managed it without destruction. No I hold it my hand. Everthing is fine except the missing middle tank. If somebody got a f18-Tank. I would like to take it.
Thanks folks

How do you separate the fuselage?
This would help in the upgrade process

It seperates about halfway down the fuselage. You should be able to see a join line.

You end up with a front half, and a back half.

Had them shipped to me like this a couple of times, but haven't done it myself. Would imagine just a strong pull should do it, as no glue etc present, and goes back together fine.

There used to be a member here named MiG-29, who did an amazing detail re-work of the legacy Hornet. Besides accurizing everything he could, he added details such as working air brake, flaps, and slats, added the boarding ladder and refueling probe. The cockpit was also remarkable for everything he added. I believe he even made support equipment and a ground/deck crew. Sadly, all the pictures and discussions are no longer to be found in the "Customs and Mod" area any more.

ADD: Boy was I wrong (forgive me great gods of the board!) You can find his work and pictures under his proper name "MiG-29K"....sorry dude, Oldshiemerz!!!
