Production numbers

I don't know if anybody has this information or access to it, but I have always been curious about how many units of each model and paint scheme are produced. The reason I wonder is because it seems like there are tons of one type of plane produced, ie. Red 3 FW 190, but then you hardly ever see any of other planes, ie P-38 Haleakela. If we had real hard numbers on each variant, we could know which ones really are rare. We could also answer whether we aren't seeing a certain plane in our area because of low production numbers or just poor distribution.

From what we have heard in the past, production runs generally start at 10,000 units, with each paint scheme @2500 each. This gets exceeded of course with additional paint schemes. This refers to 21st, as it doesn't look like bbi is knocking out anything close to this, maybe 5000?

Walmart might of requested a larger run of 190s and thus the surplus. Just speculation.

Remember, each paint scheme is usually a single run, except for a couple re-releases such as Putt Putt Maru and the improved Kepford Corsair. So, if you missed out on Halekalea, well, that was it, except for E-Bay.

Not much. It was the same Navy Corsair with Korean war scheme that was at TRU for a long long time. And I believe it is the wrong bird for that scheme. Add to the fact that the red flame boxes were the worst ever, and you may have a small, small premium.
I don't think the #s are the only thing that makes a version rare. After all, there could be only 1000 pieces of something but if nobody wants it then who cares? [See CIA Huey]

You can say that again digger! That CIA Huey has a special place in my heart. Right next to Snoop Dog's ugly green Cadillac so I can run over them both with my RC Stuart!
