Testors Model Master acrylic Flat Gull Gray paint (I forget the serial number off the top of my head) was the near-perfect match to the gray base-coat on the JSI plane. Using some careful masking and preferably an air brush, one could easily abate or completely remove the spots. One member had success using a sponge for a similar effect.
On my plane, I abated, but did not completely remove, the spots using the Flat Gull Gray paint and an airbrush. You can still see them if you look closely on my plane and it gives the plane a worn weathered effect. I think that was what JSI was trying to go for, just they never thought their process through...
Granch, there is a very long thread around here from 2009 where members discussed various ideas for de-spotting the JSI F-14. I want to say a new member just brought it up from the depths a few months ago...
