Small Scale Military Headquarters

Got this in the mail today. Been after one for a long time. Happy to get it at what I didn't consider to be an overpriced figure. P-38's have been my all time favorite plane since I was a kid. Glad I didn't leave the hobby several years ago as suggested by one the members here when I disagreed about the value of these planes.



May have to put it in storage with the rest of my planes. No room to put it with my Putt Putt, D-Day, Samantha, Haleakala, and Pudgy. Still on the fence about going for a Louise.

Glad you got a "California Cutie" P-38! Nice collection of Lightnings there as well...

I got my "California Cutie" years ago at my local Hobbytown USA store when the plane was first released. I have the S1 D-Day version and the "Samantha Peyton" version as well. At one time, I also had "Putt Putt Maru" but sold it. Of all the P-38s, I feel that "California Cutie" had one of the best paint schemes, looking very striking with the full invasion stripes, yellow cowlings, silver nose and OD green over gray base. Really, its what an ETO P-38 should look like. Keep thinking I should track down a "Pudgy" P-38 sometime

Although it lacks some finer details, I still think the 21c P-38 has held up well and doesn't look too dated next to the more recent releases.

P-38's one of my faves up on the ceiling as well.

I have the Samantha Peyton. I couldn't justify two though I'd prefer the D-Day one ultimately.

Nice collection of P-38's. I've always thought it was one of the bets looking US aircraft,
the only one I have is the series 1 D-Day version.
One thing that has always interested me was the 21st paint scheme choice and the Lucas Arts
box art for Secret Weapons over Normandy...
Same scheme, was it coincidence?



In all, how many versions of P-38 did 21st release?

Looks like the Lucasarts game came out in 2003, while the D-Day P-38 was released in 2001-2002, so they could have copied it...

The S1 P-38 is an actual P-38, save that 21c had to perform a few edits to the nose art to please the PC crowds. The actual plane was called "Les Femme, Les Vin, et les Chanson" (French for "Wine Women & Song") featured prominent nose art with a naked lady in a martini glass, and had swastika kill markings. Not quite the things I'm sure a parent would have liked to have found on the model plane they got for little Johnny at Toys R Us

Jackson at one time made the historically-correct decals for the S1 P-38.
