I have always liked the 21st Century 1/18t scale F-104. I was wondering, do you guys think we will see any more F-104s made by anyone in the future?

Can't remember when you were last posting regularly, Saberfan, but JSI aparently has 21c's F-104 toolings and in 2011 released a version in a Luftwaffe "Boelke" markings. Basically a repaint of the 21c F-104G tooling with a modified ejection seat and no pilot figure. Retailed for quite a bit more than the $40 the F-104s went for at Wal Mart back in the day!

See the thread, here: http://www.warbird-photos.com/gpxd/view ... =1&t=23653

But I agree, I do like the 21c F-104 as well. The model is well-detailed, functional, and had a neat figure. It was an odd choice to be sure (an F-4 Phantom would have been much more logical with the Vietnam line and all) but I still like the F-104 and have all three of the first 2005 releases. The S1 USAF ranks as one of my favorite 1:18 planes, period. I never did warm up to the later George Laven and Canadian Tiger Meet planes.

Thanks Tman for the info. Didn't I remember seeing an F-104 in Japanese air force markings?

Yeah, I think JSI had a prototype or something. I'm pretty sure they are the company with the F-104 toolings now, so whether we'll get a new re-paint is anyone's guess. Still quite a few more nationalities to cover and someone could get creative and make a two-seat version. I seem to recall TKO211 saying the 21c F-104 was designed in such a way that the two-sweater could be made...
