Soooooo Merit's abandoning 1:18? or they're dabbling with 1:16? Confusing... Pick a scale and stick with it. Going so close between 2... I don't care for that.

I doubt we will ever see any new molds of 1/18 stuff for the ground war anyway. 1/18 doesn't have any rival scales in the air that are close to it but as far as the ground war goes 1/16 has made so much more stuff that it just makes since to offer anything new in 1/16 not 1/18. I will buy this gun as the 1/16 t-34 they make was top notch for a factory produced model.

Merit has always been in various scales. I have a couple of 1/6 and 1/16 Merit pieces. If I am not mistaken, Merit is a distributor, not a manufacturer and they will sell whatever they think will sell.

Nothing wrong with that. 8)

I think you are right TTT, my 1/16 T-34 from them still has a slot on the bottom and next to it it says "volume". Obviouslly it is a shell of the WSN 1/16 RC T-34 and the paint is exactly the same so I figured they bought the product not the mold, without the electronic guts and put them in thier own Merit box, no where on the tank does it say "Merit".

They look great. Have they announced a price?

Those WERE once announced by Trumpeter as THEIR release but it's good to see 'em getting off the drawing board no matter.

That sFH18 Howitzer is MINE baby!!!

So is this a kit or a pre- built? Any idea of the price? I try to stay true to 1/18 scale but I think I could pull off this gun with my other stuff, so I'd like to grab one.

I can't wait to see the M198 when it's released. I will still display it along side my modern 1/18 U.S. armor even though it is a larger scale.

This is like Tamiya and Monogram, 1:35 and 1:32 It always ticked me off.
I'm going to stick to one scale...1:18!

Very valid point. Due to the lack of new 1/18 scale planes and armour I was pushed in that direction to satisfy my wants.

Please note that this is a model kit that one has to put together.

Good, that way I wont have to rip it apart to detail and weather it. :D

Jim can you explane the structure of your company? How is Trumpeter involved? Do they make everything Merit sells? and can you tell us more about the 1/18 Me-262? The packaging looks like Admiral's, is the mold also the same? The most importiant question to me has to be what is the status of the 1/18 Fw-190A??

The FW has the potential to be their biggest hit yet. Can't understand why this has not been pushed to the front of the line!!??

I hope they hurry cause Jack's FW190A conversion keeps staring me in the face and I may just pull the trigger and regret it

Just as I am moving to 1/35 armor to satisfy my wants - since FOV isn't interested in my money.

Remember we have mentioned that we want to find out how much cross over between 1/16 Model Kits and 1/18 Built n painted Models? This is all part of it.

I'd love to see Merit go all 1:16 personally... start cranking out even the most basic/common of items like Pak 40's, Jeeps, Kubels, whatever... I'd probably be all-in with them... I'd love to basically abandon 1:18, honestly. The figures were already kind of 1:16... I'd probably gladly sell all my 1:18 if I could get affordable 1:16 counterparts.

Although I said in my earlier post that I might get this and use it with my 1:18 stuff, I would never switch to 1:16. I have far too much stuff and custom stuff done in 1:18 to sell it and start over. I would just live with what I have in 1:18 and be happy with any little items that might come along. Basically it would be money that I didn't have to spend if everything went to 1:16. I feel that same way with Star Wars and their 6 inch "Black Series" - yes they do look good, but after so long with 3 3/4 sized figures I am just not starting a new collection of 6 inch figures. My two cents.

If it were a significant size difference I'd agree, but 1:18 and 1:16 is just enough to annoy... 1:12 and 1:18(ish) with Star Wars is different to me.

If 1:16 had support vehicles, artillery, and all the like that 1:18 had, I'd, in a heartbeat, drop every 1:18 I had but my planes (assuming those aren't being cranked out in 1:18)... I've already moved into 1:16 tanks... Having trucks, 4WD's, artillery and more in the same scale would just be awesome to me.

Then again I'd like the 1:18 world to come back all together... But I think it is a dead fish at this point.

I have mixed some of my 1/18 and 1/16 together. I try to be careful and not put two of the same type of vehicles together, since the difference becomes obvious. I prefer 1/18 scale but am open to some of the 1/16 stuff on the market. I have not had anyone notice a difference yet.

No, but that's what I'm saying... They will when it's a PAK 40 or the 88 next to some of this stuff. As it is, the 88 doesn't look hot next to the KT or a Tiger I, or any tank really... :( Just the 1:18 stuff. That's why, since 1:16 has some support still (and 1:18 is basically dead at this point) I'd prefer seeing Merit go all 1:16... I'd rebuy most all of what I have in 1:18 again in 1:16... Kits are even better. I'm open to that.

My figures look good next to both... But a 1:16 Kubel next to a 1:18 Kubel is meh though, obviously, just as a 1:18 tank (any of them) looks terrible next to the 1:16 tanks... Other than my planes, I'd probably happily sell my 1:18 collection off and build a new 1:16 collection, but they don't seem to have quite as many support vehicles and things... It seems like it could happen, but slowly for sure.

I think I need the uniformity of it, to an extent... It's, like above, why I won't buy into a wildly different scale like Star Wars is doing, but which is essentially the same thing.

As fas as tanks go I only do 1/16 as you said they look silly next to eachother. I have always said that the figures were around 1/17 not 1/18 anyway and like you said they look great. I have so much support stuff in 1/18 that I have accepted it and dont care anymore. It would cost a fortune to replace all of my Sdkfz251's alone. When I start thinking about it I tell myself to shut up and forget about it and that how lucky I am to have such problems

And besides, they just make my armor look that much more impressive! :P

If Merit did Hanomag kits though, 1:16? Yeah... I'd be there, all day long... Same with basically all of it, from Jeeps to trucks to halftracks to tractors to ambulances... I'd go nuts just having a supported scale basically. :) Right now, 1:18 is deader than it's ever been... Kinda hurts looking, seeing 1:16 stuff coming like the German Artillery, and knowing that said artillery isn't going to look hot against what I have, and what I have doesn't really have a good option to buy in 1:16 right now so it all matches up nicely.

Would it cost to rebuy? Absolutely.

Am I looking at a 1:16 T-34 right now though, and pretty tempted to buy because I think what Merit put out is pretty damn perfect at a great price? Absolutely... I'm to the point, 1:18 should just completely die at this point, so 1:16 can dominate and people can buy what matches up.

I'm sure if I were a smaller scale guy that the 1:32 and 1:35 thing would P me off too unless it were really not noticeable. I never really compared.
