BBI Kiowa armament?

Post by aferguson » Wed Nov 02, 2005 6:46 am

What armament does the BBI Kiowa come with? Specifically, what are the boxy pods with the pointed front? What armament is generally used in Iraq for the Kiowa?

thanks, :)

the bbi kiowa is coming with a minigun pod (with the ammo box on the side) and a rocket pod on the other side it was a tipical 2003 load but i'v just seen that in the excellent current issue of "WORLD AIR POWER" that the kiowas where now armed with 2 missiles pods (availiable in the bbi kiowa !)
i guess the pointy pod is the minigun pod (the ammo belt is in rubber and looks nice)

This helico is really great but i can see a difference on the landing skids attachment (round ones on BBI and squares ones onthe curent model ...)

anyway it's a great model

It is not a minigun but actually a .50 Cal. The helo also comes with rockets, and I believe TOW missiles EDIT Air-to-Air Stinger (ATAS), (thanks Googly), but is missing the Hellfire missiles. Unless fifi you are saying it now comes with them? In any case, it is perhaps a better $20 than the LB, and depicts an actual bird which is always cool. Only innaccuracies (the back doesn't open but it's not a BH so I don't really mind) are the lack of Hellfires - which I tried to stick on from my Apache but didn't quite fit, I'm sure with a little work they would though - and someone said the main rotor spins the wrong way I think?

Here's a nice website outlining the Kiowa's various armament configurations.

I dunno about the armament, but here is a photo of the actual aicraft from the profile album. I think bbi did a pretty good job on it....

Kiowa is Ticketed to fire 2 HELLFIRES too.

Like anything though depends on what the ground crew stick on them Unofficially too ;) We know that happens.
