It seems that 21st's / Motorworks version of the Huey is a C. Maybe one of the Wingnuts among us could explain
the differences between the two, I'm more a tanker. :)

Not sure if I should be excited or not. If it's more than just a repaint, then I'm in. If it's just a repaint, then I'm out.

They are basically the same. The B model had a different engine, and slightly different rotors and rotorhead. Otherwise, the exterior is almost identical.

Thanks B-29, I wasn't sure about the two.
This JSI thing keeps getting more interesting......who owns what?? Them, Merit or 21st/All-Go? :P

This is all I got when I checked All-Go's site..... http://www.allgotoys.com/ :?

Guess we'll have to wait for the newsletter.

Seems to me I recall JSI planning to make a Huey that for all said purposes looked like the 21c tooling. Merit distributes JSI. They have also carried a picture on their site of a Huey B/C in the "sharkmouth" scheme. I wonder if that will be it?

I've already got two 21c Hueys which are still very nice for a 2001 tooling, so unless this is a significant upgrade, it won't interest me much...

I'm definitely interested in getting one. I now have three models which I want to add to the collection: Tomcat, Dauntless and now this Huey. Only factors are money (Especially because of the shipping rates there days).
Edit............Oh, and the upcoming 190A.....man, I better start a savings account.

RUDEDOG:

JSI hasn't included pilots in its other planes, so I don't think the UH-1 will either.

I've said before that there's a market for pilots and door gunners with M60 machine guns for both the JSI and 21st Century 1/18 UH-1 Hueys---if someone would make them.

As someone who paid out of his nose not too long ago for the 21st Huey "Slick", I have mixed feelings about this. If its under $200 I may buy one (hell, it'd cost about as much as a single high end 1/6 figure). But the rationale of these companies beguiles me. They troll the boards and know how much everyone would prefer a UH-1D/H but they persist in rehashing. Then they complain there isn't enough demand for certain models or time periods. It doesn't look like Merit will release crewmen with it, so it's appeal is further diminished. For those who aren't willing to pay $250+ for a 21st Huey with a single correctly attired crewman, then they get an empty JSI Huey.

If they made a UH-1D/H with crewmen and door guns for around $200, they'd laugh all the way to the bank. Even if the UH-1B with full 2.75 in rocket pods and quad mount M-60's, with crewmen and Heads Up Display would sell well.

Alas, we'll see. If only the manufacturers put as much time in some of these things as they did in the F-14's or even their WWII aircraft.

Yet, they just remake the original 21st Century Huey...sad...

You have to be kidding me.... http://www.warbird-photos.com/gpxd/view ... 58#p257758 All that work and their making it anyway... Also, they got tail number wrong and have the wrong style rocket pods for this chopper.

Well if JSI still had the 21C mold, I get why for financial reasons they'd re-use it instead of tooling up an entirely new UH-1D mold. And I'm sure a B/C variant will still sell well enough for the newer members to the hobby who don't want to pay the big ebay prices. It's a solid mold for what it is; it just would have put it over the top to go with an all new -D model with all the trimmings (door guns, crew, multiple configurations of rockets, MGs), at the quality level of the recent Merit SBD.

I would have actually liked even more the new UH-1Y "Venom" (http://www.key.aero/view_news.asp?ID=82 ... n=military), but I know the Vietnam-era Hueys are the way to go for big sales.

And hopefully the TBA "variations" Merit speaks of will bring something fresh for the old timers that already have a UH-1C in this exact configuration.

Rats, it is a repaint. If they come out with a version that has significant differences beyond just the paint, then I'll be interested.

Jim, any chance you can ask jsi to fix the tail number? The correct tail number is 64170, with the 64 painted black and the 170 painted black. I know it is minor, but it would be nice to see fixed.
