BBI Mustang with BBI Corsair rockets?
BBI Mustang with BBI Corsair rockets?
Has anybody tried modifying their BBI Mustangs to mount the rockets from the BBI Corsair. They would look awfully good mounted on the bubble top P-47 too.
Yeah,I'm going to use my dremel tool on the Mustang,I just have to make sure I cut the holes for the rocket mounts in the right places.I'm using my Tamiya 1/48 scale Korean War P-51 as a guide.I just wondered if anyone else had thought of or tried it yet.It seems lately here unless you crying for an A-10 your posts get ignored or locked!
I want an A-1 Skyraider!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I meant no offense, but it seems lately that if you want to talk armour or P-51's for that matter, that nobody's listening.I made a post about wanting a Korean War version of the P-51 just out of curiosity to see if anyone else wanted more Korean War subjects, and my topic was locked out. This subject was separate from that one. This topic was about any suggestions for my mod job on the Mustang. The A-10 is a cool bird(or HOG)but I'd rather see an A-1 Skyraider in camo or Navy colors or an F-4E before or instead of an A-10.I guess this forum has to save space for the A-10 guys.
My father was a Marine in Korea and use to talk about the F-51's and Corsairs saving their butts many times. So of course I want to see the Korean War stuff produced.
I also want an "Easy Eight" Sherman!

rockets
I think it is a do-able idea, since the 5" HVAR rockets were the same no matter what A/C they were on.
Before the BBI Corsair (with rockets) came out, I was waiting for one of the Avenger versions to rob rockets to put on a 21C Corsair to make a late war F4U-1D version. (The BBI Corsair eliminated that need)
I'm planning on putting five 500-pound bombs (robbed from some of my P-47s) in the bomb bay of one of my Avengers to depict that aspect of the TBM.
I'd certainly be interested in one of the companies (21C, BBI, or Admiral) offering ordnance packages, maybe by time period. Pretty much the same ordnance for Navy, Marine and USAAF/USAF.
(Perhaps even a couple of depth charges or a Mark 24 homing torpedo for the Atlantic Avenger - they didn't use the Mark 13 torpedo in ASW)
Jim
(BTW, I would also love to see a Skyraider in 1:18!! Korea and Vietnam and many paint schemes!)

When P-51 locked your Korean Mustang thread, here was the reason he gave:
"Since there's already a thread about the BBi Mustang with Corsair rockets... I'm going to lock this one. "
With over 550 members now, it's necessary to keep similar topics in one thread; otherwise the board will soon become a mass of threads that quickly get pushed to page 2 without most having a chance to read them...and people will have to be checking 2, 3 or more threads on a similar subject in case they are missing something.
Extending your argument, tko, you could also have started threads on 'Pacific Mustangs', 'ETO Mustangs', 'Immediate Post War Mustangs', 'Racing Mustangs' etc. Where to draw the line?
There are exactly 2 A-10 threads: the Hunger Strike thread and the Official Announcement thread. At the time the announcement looked ligitimate and was bigger news than wishing for a Korean Mustang (sorry, but a fact), which justified it being created. It quickly became a source of direct information from BBI regarding the announcement and was just as important, which justified its staying open.
Perhaps someday if you run/moderate your own board you can do things differently but for now, this is the way we're doing things here.
Thanks.
