Thanks again Guys !!

I had a minor step backwards on the K 2 project. I had to get more RTV and the last batch was bad.

Once mixed it never fully set up and kind of had the consistency of chewing gum.

So I brought back the semi used RTV and they have ordered me more.

I have been using this project for years and have never had this happen.

Oh well.

I have been using the time wisely and have started the Porsche turret .

No 3-D printing on this just the old fashioned way by hand. :D :D :D

So according to the poll , you board members want a total of 37 Tiger II and their derivatives.

So far I have had 8 guys who have sent deposits and payments.

Out of the 8 guys they have paid in full for 7 .

A total of 12 units have been deposited or paid in full.

That is a little bit less than the 37 total from the poll.

I had the same thing happen a few months ago.
Both parts mixed fine, no problems............after a day it was....as you said like gum...
..after a week it never cured.
I was casting a 1:18 figure, it took about a day to clean the uncured RTV off.
Just got new RTV and resign last week.....found two coming up.

Pickel, you get my PM?

That prototype tooling looks amazing! Easily as good as the 21c version. Actually, you've gotten farther than 21c had at this point  Seriously giving consideration to this.

Hey guys another non progress update.

The RTV things is STILL NOT WORKED OUT.

I talked to the Smooth-On rep and they said that I must have mixed the RTV incorrectly .

WTF !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have been using this product for about 6 years and have used gallons upon gallons amounting up to thousands of $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ and they want to give me this song and dance ?

I can not believe it.

For the past year I have been buying my RTV from a local artist supply store and not direct like I have for the years before .

Buying from the local store is cheaper for me because I do not have to pay for the shipping.

But now I have these issues so it needs to go through these channels

So with that issue and work that is back to normal like it was before Katrina not to much progress these past couple of weeks.

I will spend the whole day with my son today and we put him back on the plane Sat.

His Christmas break has ended. :(

He goes to LMU out in Cali. This is his senior year and he is still on the Deans list !!!

What a smart kid !!!

Anyway the guys in the shop will be starting a big job, so I will be waiting for them to fabricate it .

Next week I will get a few days of TIGER TIME . :D :D :D

I'm curious as to how you will handle the treads. Your tank is beautiful but I'm not sure what you have planed for the those. Will they move or be stationary? Do you have pics of something similar you have done? Sorry if this was already covered and I missed it. This tank has got me very curious.

No the treads will not move.

I do not think that the resin will hold up.

When I made my T-34 the first batch had individual track links.

Tons and tons of work to clean them up and link them up.

So I made a full length for the bottom and a wavy length for the top.

Using the individual links to round the main drive and rear idler.

This is the way I will do the Tiger.

The t-34/ 85 build should show what I did .

Here's another pic.....

The Pickelhaube T-34 treads are very detailed and look great on the model.

I think that same technique would look good on the Tiger.

Pickel's T-34 is a fantastic kit and no doubt the King Tiger will be just as good if not better.

Re: the lettering....its from Verlinden Productions decal sheet number 357, "WWII Allied
Wall Slogans". They are rub-on, 120mm / 1:16.

Image
Slogan on left side of the T-34 translates to.... Revenge!

I hope everything gets worked out with the RTV, I'm looking forward to this King Tiger.

I have made copies of the tracks and getting a little chance to cast them .

I had a section of track made and I broke those down and have made singles out of the protos.

I had made some masters a year or so ago but they did not match the 3-d main drive, so I trashed them :? .

The way the Tiger's tracks are going together is proving to be a little problematic.

There is a treaded link and a connector link.

The connecting links are coming out great the tread links not so great.

The female part of the tread links are filling up with resin because when I casted a pin in them that area can not fill up with RTV.

So what I probably will do is make a flat track section for the bottom, another for the top and make a long " J " section leading to the front drive sprocket .

The singles will go around the front drive and rear idler.

Pickel, your solution to the track issue sounds like the way to go
and I'm sure it'll look as good as the T-34 tracks.

I'm ready to start building :D

Yeah, I subscribe to Hobby Japan and I keep seeing photos for some sort of anime sub-genre of school girls with German planes, Strike Witches and tanks, Girls und Panzer. Finally, decided to find out the name of the tank series after your posting. No idea what the premise is beyond that.

A girl and her Gustav gun.

GIRLS und PANZER Hetzer/Jagdpanzer 38(t)

Guys, we all know by now that what we are seeing here are the effects of long-term exposure to nuclear radiation.

Well I made a gang mold of the track links. The Connector links came out great. They are similar to my T-34 track links.

The toothed tracks were an epic failure .

Image

The rubber in the female slots came out when I separated the mould halves.

So I had to remake them a different way.

It is made and I have pulled the mold apart and the " new " way seems to have worked.

I have yet to make copies but I think that it will work.

I need to have a show of hands for those who are ACTUALLY GOING TO GET THE JAGDTIGER.

Tank Ace
Zelda

I know you are down , WHO ELSE WANTS THE JAGDTIGER ?

I need to know because if it is just you two , I will take one of the standard bodies and do the mod on the hull itself.

If there will be a total of 5 guys I will make a mould of it.

The RTV to make that mould will cost at least $350 .

So I need a show of hands.

A show of hands FROM PEOPLE WHO ARE ACTUALLY GOING TO GET THE JAGD.

It seems that quite a few people have voted and it appears a few of them will not be purchasing a copy.

The cost of RTV ( casting rubber ) has exceeded $1,200 on this project.

THANKS TO YOU THAT HAVE SENT IN YOUR DEPOSITS AND PAYMENTS . :D :D :D :D

You know as crazy as it sounds, it would really look cool if they had made the decals faded and done some great chipping, weathering and battle damage and maybe got those threads dirty and put some modern IR equipment on it with a minigun up top... 8) 8)

Could be a very cool post-apocalyptic Tokyo fighting machine 8) 8)
