Both aircraft have a place to be done in 1/18 scale. Comparing the A-10 and F-4 is like comparing apples to oranges in my opinion....

I second that motion on both counts, B-dog. And the sooner the better for someone to make either or both in 1:18.

"The F-4 Phantom was built in some 20 models when you include each nation's unique configurations. In general, it had nine fighter versions and three reconaissance versions. The RF-4C Phantom aircraft flew reconaissance in Operation Desert Storm."

Gosh. So MANY options for a toy company to consider for producing a Phantom in 1:18. Where to start?...what version for the S-1 release?...what livery? It boggles the mind!

The first would have to be a Vietnam F-4E with the Vulcan Cannon added.

How about an F-4 "Wild Weasel" from Desert Storm? I'd love to see one of those too. They could go in and take out the anti aircraft threats ahead of time.

Despite this recent development :( , I still think a 1:18 F-4 should be done with the Duke's livery:

(11-28) 13:21 PST SAN DIEGO, (AP) --

Rep. Randy "Duke" Cunningham pleaded guilty Monday to conspiracy and tax charges and tearfully resigned from office, admitting he took $2.4 million in bribes to steer defense contracts to conspirators.

i would still buy a 1/18 F-4 of Showtime
even though he made a mistake in politics, he was still a great F-4 ace pilot

Geez...I always viewed the military in higher regards than politicians...come on Duke whyd ya do it? Hmmm....

well for those disdained in what just happened, we can always look forward to the other aces....like Col Olds' Scat XXVII(even though he was 1 short of becoming an ace in nam, he was an ace thrice over in previous wars).

Still showtime was a good bird and I would still getit.
Shin's wishlist for 1/18 and 1/32 with retractable landing gear and more:

F-14 Tomcat, F-8 Crusader, A-4 Skyhawk, F-105 Thunderchief, A-6 Intruder, F-15C, F-15E Strike Eagle

you know when i started this link i was watching Duke explaining his battle with Col Tune in Vietnam.
who would have ever guessed this in just a very short time
o well we still have R Olds & S Ritche's planes.
i just thought of a paint job for an F-8. didn't John Glenn set an accross country record in one?

He sure did! F-8 had some really nice liveries. Hell NASA could even get an exclusive with that one, they did some of the supercritical wing experiments with an F-8!

Its unlikely this will happen, but if someone makes a 1/18 super Crusader......WOW.....

I'd love a VF-84 and VF-111 F-4.

Long-shot, but thought I'd ask:

Anyone have access to industry information on airplane model sales e.g. ranking of sales for 1:32 & 1:48 planes? Am curious to see where F-4 models fall within the overall mix.

All historical significance, repaint opportunities, coolness, etc. aside, it won't get made in 1:18 unless it has (proven) wide appeal.

just called 2 local hobby shops that i know owners real well
1/48 F-4s only outsold by Mustangs and Messerschmitts. but are fastest selling of all jets.
in 1/32 the tamiyas are so pricy that they are S/O. only new F-16s & F/A18s out sell tamiya F-4s in large scale jets
new Revell 1/32 F-4s go out as fast as they can get them
