I can't decide which I want more, the A-10 or the Phantom. I think I'm leaning more toward the Phantom. Let's all go on a drinking binge until we get one. I can hold out.

Of course you want the A-10 first! Thats what you said after you binge drinked the other day. Don't you remember telling me that? You said something like, "You can have my A-10 when you pry it from my cold dead fingers"....or something like that.

F-4 repaints

Post by SpareParts » Sun Dec 04, 2005 7:26 am

Hi, just wanted to throw in my two cents. The Phantom is probably the only plane which I would be willing to buy repaints. So far, of the planes I like, I've bought only one of each model (for cost/personal resource reasons). Also, because aside from the paint job it is essentially the same plane in the same role. The Phantom, as we all know was used the Air Force, Marines & Navy in a variety of roles thru Desert Storm. I think for that reason I would want to have one of each (VN Air Force, Navy & Marines, and a Wild Weasel). Also, I grew up in the 70's building Vietnam era aircraft models. I would like to see the Phantom come out, closely followed by the Skyhawk, Thunderchief & Voodoo. Anyone have an update on the F104 Vietnam from Badcat?

SpareParts:

Here's my preferred ranking of a F-4 rollout:

S-1=Marine
S-2=Navy
S-3=AirForce

But to be honest, I'll take whatever livery would come out.

i tried to say if they did a long nose like a RF-4C/ F-4E/F/G
i would buy ay least 7
and short nose F-4C/D/J/S AT LEAST 3
so on of the 3, 1/18 manufacters needs to step up to the plate

Good recon, Kagnew. Stats like that help support the cause!

Here's some (useless) F-4 trivia:

--Its generators can push enough power through its 14 miles of electrical wiring to supply a subdivision of 30-40 homes with enough power to operate lights, washing machines, TV’s, toasters, can openers, vacuum cleaners, etc.

--its engines at full bore draw in enough air to collapse a typical six-room house in two seconds.

Not necessarily a reason to produce a 1:18 F-4, but more (useless) trivia:

--With the throttles two-blocked, the F-4 consumes enough fuel in 60 seconds to drive an average American car more than 3,000 miles, and it carries enough fuel to drive that car about 35,000 miles.

Attention 21st, BBI and Admiral:

Here's this board's summary of reasons supporting the manufacture of a 1:18 F-4:

--Historically significant
--Mulitiple military roles
--International appeal
--Limitless repaint opportunities
--Proven large scale plastic model popularity

You would not regret moving forward with a F-4 project.
