I know this is a military forum, but I think this will interest most people. It also may seem to indicate that Dragon has plans to move into the 1:18 military market.

Without further delay here is what Dragon have to say;
(Parts that seem to suggest further releases are in bold)

"Making one giant leap forward for modelers is Dragon’s new Action 18 Hero range of figures! The first four astronaut action figures come as a complementary assortment, and they are beautifully made to 1/18 scale (3.75-inch). Every figure in the quartet represents an Apollo astronaut, and they come with differentiating features and accessories. One astronaut has planted the “Stars and Stripes” flag on the Moon’s surface, another carries a camera, while a third wields a scoop with which to collect lunar soil specimens. The face of the fourth figure can be seen as he has taken off his helmet and carries it in his hands. All The figures come with individual dioramic stands so that they can be realistically displayed.

All the action figures feature ball joints to give their legs and arms an appropriate degree of articulation within their spacesuits. Making use of Dragon’s vast experience in producing 12-inch action figures, this set is simply stunning. They soar far above toy-like figures from other manufacturers, and their individual painting is equal to that in the best of collections. These are the first figures painting is equal to that in the best of collections. The NASA badges on their spacesuits are accurately produced by tampo printing. These are the first figures in the Action 18 Hero collection, and like the Apollo space exploration program, there is so much more for space fans to discover and look forward to!"

These are due for a UK release this November (I suspect December/January, but would love to be proved wrong!).

Rather poignant timing by Dragon just a few days after Neil Armstrong's death.

The figures certainly look good and I will certainly look out for them if they ever reach the UK. I wonder if Dragon plan to produce a 1/18 Moon Lander? Now that would certainly be impressive!!

Well, that was my first thought too. However, I then thought that there is no way Dragon could have designed etc these in a week. They have almost certainly been working on them for a while, dare I say they were actually aiming for the hype regarding the Mars rover Curiosity. But I do agree the timing is a little odd.

These are due for a UK release in November/December/January, they say November but I will be amazed if that is accurate.

The range would certainly suit a 1:18 Lunar Module, maybe the one in the picture is more than just a mock up?

The one in the picture is an illustration, not a model, and yes these have been in development for a while now.

And anyway, where's the weathering? Shouldn't his boots be dusty?

If it had died, why would they announce it as coming out?

CAT: it was first discussed on here several months ago; beginning of the year i think. Then i heard nothing about it for ages and even asked on here if the line was still a go....and still heard nothing. So i assumed it had been cancelled.

In fact, i believe this line was first mentioned last year.

Glad to hear this line is still a "go". While it looked fantastic, I never could quite convince myself to spend $150 for the 1:6 Dragon Apollo Astronaut figure, so these 1:18 versions are a very nice alternative! I've seen them on eBay with the Hong Kong sellers already, so they are certainly coming. Dragon already has 1:24 scaled Apollo astronauts as part of their CanDo lineup, but those are a bit small and have no articulation.

Give me a 1:18th Shuttle, and I'll look forward to space themes.

Last good Shuttle item was the Bandai 1:144 Chogokin Endeavor, but at 1200$
I passed!

1/18th scale Lunar Module I could do.

The Space Shuttle would be big in 1/18th scale. :D

You can spend even more on the Bandai Saturn V.

Absolutely fantastic models, but with a price tag to match.

Dragon are/ have been getting into the space program quite heavily lately.

The Gemini and Mercury with detailled interior and possibility of positionning the astronauts in and out could also be a chapter in the space adventure. At a lower altitude, making the NASA F-104 could also be nice, just need to grab out the 21st century mold.
