what do you guys think its better 1/18 static tanks to have them on display or 1/16 rc tanks that you can have as display and take them out drive around outside? with price not being a big issue.also does somebody have a pic of the size difference between a 1/18 and a 1/16 panther tank

As long as they are displayed apart, theres not alot of difference, you just can't set them next to each other, then the scale size really shows, if I were going to use 1/16 in a diorama, they would have to in the back ground.

I prefer 1:18 static models.

and some figures.......1:16 tanker with 1:18.

I had a few RC 1/16 tanks and they can also be used as static. But after a while,at least on my case, it gets boring specially after having to clean the tank to put it back on display (unless you like keeping the mud to make it look more realistic).
They also take more shelf space. Another drawback is the lack of support vehicles,they do make some but they are expensive.
The bright side of the 1/16 is that the figures fit much better in such vehicles as the kubelwagen wirbelwind,US jeep,etc. There are separate track links,suspension and also metal upgrades.
There is more armor available in 1/16 than 1/18 to keep the interest alive.

I collect 1/18 because i also like collecting support vehicles and 1/18 diecast 1940's war era German and US vehicles,but the pros and cons are pretty close for me to consider switching scales or mixing scales.

It really depends on how serious you are about the size of the collection you are after, if you want a few nice pieces then buy 1/18 stuff and customize them or buy them customized by a pro, if you want a huge collection 1/16 offers much more variety but like 1/18 they look like toys out of the box, not models. If you want toys to play with 1/16 tanks are fun. Here are some pics...



you can get away with mixing scales with some things.. as long as they are not the same item....

The majority of my collection is 1/18. But I broke down and bought a 1/16 King Tiger a couple months ago. I don't use it much but it is kinda cool to drive it around, scares the hell out of my poor dog tho. That being said I prefer my 1/18 stuff and the KT dwarfs just about all of it. For the time being the KT sits alone in a corner of my game room, tho it might need a T-34 to keep it company.
