Question: XD figure quality???

Post by hworth18 » Tue Oct 18, 2005 7:08 am

I just got both new 109s from Badcat and both are simply beautiful.. The only problem is that when I removed the "Hackl" pilot from the packaging, both legs and an arm fell off.. I put them back on, but they won't stay..
Other than gluing them together permenently, is there any other way to fix this???

I thought that 21st had fixed its figure problems???

Assuming that the pilot figure with the Hackle plane is the same as what came with the other 109s (the enlarged S1 ME-109 pilot figure), if the little peg is there you can simply push it back into the hole. Otherwise you may have to glue the pieces. You could track down one of the carded ME-109 pilots with the small retailers or on ebay and use that instead.

Tman,
The pilot figure is the standard one that also comes with the Fw-190s..
I actually pulled a figure from one and compared them.. They are exactly the same other than one figures appendages won't stay on.. I have considered the boiling water option.. Any suggestions???

Hopefully, 21C retires that figure SOON. I think he's worse than the M113 pack-ins (at least those guys make good generic truck drivers).

I picked up some Japanese soldiers from 21st and the problem was the opposite. The arms tended to be stuck in the shoulder sockets resulting a breakage at the shoulder joint. I ended up drilling a small hole in the ball which remained in the socket and glueing a small srew or brad with ACC into the hole. The arm was drilled to and glued on . I figure this is due to the figures being assembled too soon after painting. Now to taking this idea, perhaps there some way to enlarge the "ball" of the joint by painting the ball or coating it with ACC glue and letting it dry before plugging the arm back in. I recall my FW109 pilot`s legs would fall off as I was seating him in the plane. There may be some surgury reguired to make the legs a bit more flexible by shaving some plastic off in the right spots. I have not tried this yet though.

Bf-109 Pilots

I very much agree with retiring this particular figure forever. No doubt that BBi makes excellent figures and I wish 21C would do the same. I'm on the look out for other 1:18 figures that perhaps may be adapted as Bf-109 pilots. If I'm successful, you'll be the first ones to know.

I went to the BCA website and saw the new Bf-109s as "back order" items. Some of you already have them. Where did you get them, please?

Yup,

We have been having that trouble for some time now with the pilot figure. Lets hope they correct the problem.
