russian D-20 152mm howitzer NEW INFORMATION READ BEFORE BUY

Post by aferguson » Sat May 12, 2012 7:12 am

i found this while poking about on Aliexpress. It's a lighter made to look like a russian D-20 152mm howitzer. It's virtually exactly 1/18. I'm not sure what's up with the dorky shield, as i haven't found any pictures of a gun with a shield like that, but otherwise it's pretty good. I've seen a lot of pics where it has no shield at all, so it could be removed...i think it looks better without a shield anyway. It's odd they did this, because the smaller version of this lighter has the correct shield shape.

This is a post ww2 howitzer but has been used by many nations in many wars, including vietnam, desert storm etc.

Pretty cool. About 18 1/2 inches long

yes but they don't make that

the D20 is still cool

by the way, it's possible to make a B-4 out of a power team howitzer and a toy bulldozer.

Wow, that's cool. Have you ordered from them before? I've bought a few 1:18 Chinese army jeeps and hummers lately and the quality is pretty good. The jeep witH cannon feels more like cast iron than die cast! I want one of these too!

no havent ordered. Aliexpress is the chinese equivelant of ebay...it's made up of many sellers. The seller of this gun seems to have pretty good feedback and Ali is quite safe to buy on if you use credit card.

ok i think i screwed up guys. The big gun is not 1/18 scale. It's more like 1/15. The smaller gun is 1/20. I had misinterpreted the dimensions that were quoted.

so, neither are correct to 1/18 scale but the smaller one is more correct, i guess. Although i like the bigger one better as it's got more accurate details, except for the dorky shield. :)

Aferg,
As I'm more used with centimeter than with inch, I compared the overall length of these 2 gun lighters. The biggest one, the best in shape, would be 3/4 of the length of my BBI Blackhawk... so, it is definitively too long to hang it at the hook I've made. Would prefer the second one, but it needs some custom, with a new straight (and not scallop) shield and a matt OD green colour, replacement of the wheel nuts... The wheels have nearly the same diameter than the BBI Humvee, if this gives some guys some ideas...

... But did'nt Pickelhaube made a small canon (probably more WWII) to hang at a jeep?
