1/6 Weasel - Anybody have any info?

Hey all, BigBadToyStore has a 1/6 scale Weasel up for preorder, but there is no additional info. I searched the web and saw there is to be a metal kit from this company so I cant tell if BBTS is selling a kit or pre-built. Anybody have more info, was the company going to sell as a pre-built as well?

The Weasel is pre-built. All metal. No kit is in the future.

Looks like one of those "love it or hate it" models, depending on who you talk to.

I think it looks good but I've seen some complaints from reviewers about body parts fit. Some of the 1/6 sites have more pics.

Thanks for the info TTT, nice to know it is pre-built. I found this place that has it for 488.00, but they dont say what shipping would be. I'm on the fence with this one. Looks unique and something cool to add to the collection, but hard to say if it is worth 500.00. Wish I could see it in person.

A pre order price of $488 is a good price. You do take a chance with a new vehicle at a special pre order price but the discount is worth a gamble.

Shipping won't be as high as you think. Vehicles like this are "drop shipped" from LA port of entry. The dealer never sees the item, it goes straight to you. I've received a number of vehicles shipped like that and the shipping is never high. My biggest/heaviest vehicle was a DID SdKfz 251 weighing 50 pounds (a brute) and drop shipping was around $50. I would estimate this Weasel would run about $40 and you may even find a dealer giving you free shipping.

Have patience Grasshopper. We have just received this release info so more dealers will chime in, soon.

drop shipping just means it's shipped from someone else, other than who you purchased it from....in this case straight from the manufacturer. We normally think of drop shipped items coming from China, because many do, but drop shipping can come from anywhere, even from a different location in the US (where there's a warehouse full of the item, for example). Drop shipping doesn't have to be cheaper but it does save the cost of double shipping....once to the retailer and then again to the buyer, which saves money as the buyer pays all the shipping costs, though some are buried in the pricetag.

Drop shipped items from China are often cheap because most post offices in the world give chinese mail a big break in shipping charges; USPS is no exception.

In the case of 1/6, double shipping can be very costly. Here, we are talking about 1/6 items imported from China. Avoiding shipping from port of entry (LA in these cases), to a dealer and then shipping to you can double shipping from $40 to $80. Drop shipping is a big advantage for the buyer and save a small etailer staff expenses and costs of receiving to redirect to us, the buyer. The good buys these days are from the small etailers avoiding their own handling expenses by using drop shipping.

Had 21C used drop shipping, maybe they would still be around?
