Welcome aboard !!! To operate the nose gear, open the door, and pull it down and forward until it locks in place. To retract it, push straight up on it, (not to the rear as if retracting) in order to unlock it, and THEN push it to the rear to retract it. It takes a fairly strong push to unlock it. It MUST be unlocked first, or it will break !!!!

I'm curious as to why you want to remove the props. I have never tried that......

There is no way to remove the props without splitting the booms.

It is a neat feature but 21st made it so the props will only spin counter rotating.

Which is correct. But why ? Seams to be a lot of engineering for a feature that most would not even recognize.

so the nose gear gets pushed upward..(into the body) to unlock it? My props are on the wrong engine for proper blade angle and rotation...looking at the plane, the right engine prop should rotate clockwise...it has a counterclockwise prop on ti...the left engine prop should rotate counterclockwise...it has a clockwise prop on it...so they were installed wrong and shall remain like that..the nose gear unlock is not clear...push up as in toward the swivel point...will I be able to perceive the wheel unlocking? Stay with me till I perform this function, & I appreciate the help....I wasn't sure if I was on the right site or I never done this on a computer before.

I want to be certain which way to push up on the nose gear to unlock before I break it...it doesn't seem to want to go...I've got to tell you, that I have a 91 yr. old friend who used to work on Putt Putt Maru in New Guinea In WWII...around 19 yrs old at the time and a riveter amongst other duties. He has 2 photos of himself standing next to Putt Putt Maru in his living room.

Yes, you push it straight up into the body to unlock it. Do NOT push it to the rear as if folding it into the retracted position until it is unlocked.

Again, it takes a fairly strong push upward to unlock it. It will then fold back fairly easily into the wheel well. It will not be loose and floppy to move because the model is new. You will feel a definite movement upwards as it unlocks.

The other members are correct on the description of how to retract the nose wheel - push up to unlock then fold back. I recall lots of reviews when this plane came out about people breaking the nose wheel. Never had the problem with my P-38s.

As for the props, I went and looked at my 21st Century Toys "California Cutie" P-38. The props on my plane are angled correctly. Sounds like you got an example of JSI's quality control work with your plane. It will be a difficult fix and I'm not sure whether anyone has tried replacing the P-38 prop around here.
