Avenger Near?

Post by JOC » Mon Oct 10, 2005 11:45 pm

Just read through an email from Toy Federation that they are getting in some new 21st Airplanes. Also in the newsletter this was mentioned:

"We've also received good news on the long anticipated Avenger. 21st has told us that they will be shipping out before the end of this year. All the kinks have been worked out from the Canopy to the Bomb-Bay doors and it is moving ahead."

COULD THIS BE TRUE?????????

I certainly hope it is true. I have grown quite tired of getting excited when hearing that the Avenger release is near and then finding out it has been delayed again. I'll believe it when I see it in my own hands.

Avenger

Post by JimBob55 » Tue Oct 11, 2005 5:12 am

That is good news. Any little bit of new info about the Avenger is good news! I hope they are close; we've been waiting for some time on this!!

But we may appreciate the effort and the time; from the prototype photos, this sure looks to be 21C's best effort in aircraft by far!! I've been saving space for all 3 planned versions of the Avenger. I'm glad the wings fold! I'm sure that the Grumman engineers had us collectors in mind when they designed that feature into the original! (...not!) (Hehehehe...) Although having several of these monster scale models will give me a greater appreciation for the Navy managing to fit these onto the escort carriers!

Bring it on! :)

I have my BBi Corsair sitting on a shelve with wings folded. It looks great!
There is also room for the 21C Avenger which I understand will come with folding wings. I also understand some of the delay in the Avenger has been quality issues. I sure hope this thing is as nice at the BBi Corsair. I'm getting use to the BBi quaility.

BCA has stated something similar regarding an end of the year release for the Avenger as well, so we may be on to something. Lets hope thats actually the case! Does TKO have any more info?

New releases

Post by digger » Tue Oct 11, 2005 10:20 am

I have an idea  ...let's get real excited about some tentative news and then get super pissed off if it isn't true! :P

But seriously, I wish retailers would all stop hypothesizing on release dates and start placing orders for the stuff that's out already! WHERE ARE THE NEW BBI FIGURES :?:

Avenger Near?

Post by donnieboy » Tue Oct 11, 2005 9:52 pm

I believe the Avenger is coming out this year. I also believe that any day now, Scarlett Johanssen is going to stride forcefully into my living room, pull me off my Barca-Lounger, rip off my clothes, and passionately have her way with me! Both scenarios are equally plausible!
Pardon my cynicism. :?

P.S. If you're reading this, Ms. Scarlett, I'm not easy, but I can be had!

Avenger Release

Post by eddie372 » Sun Oct 16, 2005 12:43 am

Sure hope this time around the rumors are true.
Now. Having said that, let me put my own two proverbial cents in:

I don't believe 21C will ever be making the mistake of announcing some new product's release date so far in advance. No way! The PR cost is just too high a price to pay. But to be fair to 21C, I believe that we're also to blame for these unfortunate and ill-timed announcements. Seems to me that forums such as this are indeed a force to be dealt with, at least as far as being able to influence company decisions, force speculative announcements, alter product lines and re-think product distribution schemes.

I'd be very much interested in having a typical profile of the average member in this forum. I'd venture to say that the resultant typical member would be middle-age, male, married, home owner, military or ex-military, better than average income, republican, conservative and christian. Yes I know, there may be many exceptions to these, but I said typical or average, not everyone.

If that is the average or typical collector here, remember that BMW, Audi, Hilton, American Express, Avis, FTD, William Sonoma, Macy's and many others spend terrific amounts of money and effort into figuring out how we think, act, work, travel, vote, drive and worship. All at a tremendous dollar cost. So you see, in this forum any company could potentially gain a hugh competitive advantage by simply tuning in and listening, not having to spend a single solitary penny in marketing research, yet achieving a research goal the unaware competition could only dream of.

So keep at it boys and girls, that they do listen! They would be fools not to.

Ok, that's my sermon of the day!

OK, I posted this quite some time ago but I'm doing it again. This girl is now a young adult from when the picture was first taken with her 1:18 Avenger (kidding, just kidding). Anyway, I look at this picture from time to time to remind myself that an Avenger can be made, and what a beauty it will be. I am really looking forward to 21st's version and I'm willing to wait as long as it takes:

Oh, and by the way, it is possible to make a 1:18 F-4 and F-14. Now we just need someone to make it in quantity and affordable (look at the last two pictures on the bottom of the page for the F-4s):

 Wow!! Now you really are getting me wanting an F-4G bad!!! I would REALLY hate to know just how much those models go for. How much do they go for??

Thanks for the link! It really makes me wonder in amazement the possibilities in 1:18!!

Ski, not sure of the price unfortunately. I emailed them a long time ago and never heard back.

That F-4 is a beauty. Something like that would be the crown jewel in my 1:18 collection.

I posted this in the Zero thread. I'll repost it here:

HPH have been discussed on the board off and on for the past five years or so. Exquisite stuff.....very expensive. The small fighters are around $1400 US with the bigger twin engines and jets well over 2k, plus several hundred dollars shipping from eastern europe.

Here's a list of the full range they make in 1/18.

http://ww2.esn.net/kleber/warbirds.htm (note: not sure if this gentleman is still in business. He was a very elderly man when i emailed him four years ago. It is quite possible that he has reitred now or is even deceased)

I've been tempted off and on to get the Me-410 but i calculated that by the time i paid shipping, exchange and import taxes it would be about $3,500 Canadian. So i will continue to be tempted..

Oh, and check the gallery of the HPH site for pics of an eye popping 1/18 scale Arado 196.

i emailed HPH and got a quick response. Delivery time is about 1 year from order. I've listed sample prices below. They didn't mention shipping costs.

They also sent me a complete price list. As an example of prices: Wildcat is 1910 EURO, Horten Ho 229 is 1890 EURO, Me 262 is 2246 EURO, Me-410 is 2480 EURO, He-219 is 2198 EURO, Mirage 2000 is 2950 EURO, and the F-14 is a mere 7610 EURO.......yes, i said 7610.

Someday i will get the Me-410 and He-219. This i vow. :D

So....there you go.
