Dragonfly scheme? Keep in mind, I have 4 versions (3 Cobra schemes and 1 Marine Camo. The one I will be painting is the one in the first pic with the broken M97 Series and A/A49E-7 (GE Universal Turret).

I'd go with the original Dragonfly paintscheme. (Part of me did always like the Tigerfly cammo, but its pretty unrealistic outside of a Tigermeet gunnery competition...) The Dragonfly scheme would be the easiest to paint as well. For accuracy sake, I would research the exact shade of green drab paint used by the US Army in the late 1970s and early 1980s for the best effect. If you can get enlarged versions of the noseart and markings, that would add to the effect. If not, www.cobrastickers.com has excellent reproduction sticker decals.
On an unrelated note, the GI Joe designers must have intended the Dragonfly to be a tiny attack helicopter, judging from the box pics. Obviously it was influenced by the early-model AH-1s, but the picture (as well as the actual model) are decidedly underscale.

Option (D) sell it to Tambo because he does not have a Cobra. If your going to do it GI Joe go with the Reg green Dragonfly. Not a fan of the Tigerfly at all.

Voted for the regular green if you're really intent on giving it a new paintjob, tiger stripe is just a bullet magnet
Would you consider an Ocktober Guard Scheme? kinda painted like a Hind? That'd be the new post cold-war lend/lease arrangement to fight Cobra

Go with Dragonfly paint and decals. Would be cool to see you do an old school box back panel shot with the red background.

I voted for Dragonfly color. But you are right, the cobra is worth too much to use it on a custom project.Have you consider painting the "true heros" apache.I know is not a cobra, like wild bill fly on the 80's GI Joe cartoon, but maybe it is time to update wild bill's ride.Besides it is cheaper and if done right with the decals and some weathering it will probably look better than Hasbro dragonfly.I use to collect 25th anniversarry Joes and i know that the vehicles have not been retooled, the old vehicles next to the new figures looks kind of toysh.Hasbro needs to get those vehicles redone like they did with the X-wing fighter,AT-At,millennium falcon, tie fighters, etc.
